1 The lady who said it's a death trap is wrong in insisting that one's safety is always somebody else's responsibility. You are responsible for your own life. Life is full of choices and consequences. No amount of bells and whistles will stop some people from their own carelessness. |

1 Case in point: about 20 miles from my house in a rural area is a railroad crossing with no lights or barrier arms. Further, the tracks are about eight feet high, meaning that you must drive up a ramp, cross the tracks, and down the other side, and there is a sharp curve shortly before the crossing. Because of this, it is impossible to see an approaching train more than a couple hundred yards away. Now admittedly, I do not know the full circumstances of this tragic accident, but I would only point out that very dangerous crossings DO exist, and it is incumbent upon railroad officials to see to it that blind crossings are either eliminated or provided with proper warning devices. Whatever the circumstances of this tragedy, my thoughts and prayers are with this young man's family. |

Not only was their 2 lives lost and the children and other family members affected by this tragedy don,t forget about the engineer of the train who will always relive for the rest of his life what happened right in front of his eyes. It's very traumatic for all of the families involved. Something that will never be forgotten on both sides.

Sherry, you are obviously ignorant and have never been to the crossing. If you had been you would see that it would be very easy to not see a train coming in the middle of the night. There are also no lights or gates. There is a small sign that is half covered by shrubs. You obviously have never lost a loved one in this manner and I hope you never have to feel the pain that we ,chris and craigs, family are feeling right now. It is very heartless to put something like that on the internet where his family might see it. The comment you wrote just makes everyone think that you are a heartless bitch. We love you and miss you chris and craig. |

Regardless of any circumstances, you will allways be in our hearts, and we will miss you, anyone who has negative thoughts about such a tradegy should not post, and maybe re think if it were to happen to them or their family, how they would feel, says what kind of a person they are,

I have to say, that with this particular incident, the crossing is not a 'dangerous' one. I live about a mile down the road from where this accident happened. Since it was on a private drive, there is no crossing gates or flashers. If I remember correctly, there is/was small stop signs at the tracks the last time I was back there. Having said this...accidents obviously do still happen. Whatever the cause of this particular case, it's still a horrible situation!! My condolences go out to everyone involved, including the Allwood family. Every time they go down their drive, they will be reminded of this.
