Am I the only person that is noticing that Councilmember Haugen is the only person on the council that consistently and continuously voting "no" to everything? She has a lot of audacity to make comments about how Auburn is a struggling community yet at the same time, takes strides to impede its progress with no votes and negative comments about the area. Maybe Councilmember Haugen can apply herself to making Auburn better by actually investing her time into something that would improve the area.

Maybe she can walk into the corporate offices of Famous Daves, Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Rainforest Cafe and some other upper tier restuarants and lure them into the downtown core. Maybe a seafood restaurant, maybe sushi. Anything, something besides pizza, Mexican and teriyaki!!

Maybe she can attend a few meetings that actually have something to do with growth management and learn that if we do not grow and meet the needs of this area, we will be left behind to die. Even small town Bonney Lake has more stores restaurants and entertainment than Auburn does. Bonney Lake!!!! I can recall when Bonney Lake was one lane in and one lane out with one stop light. Who is laughing now? They are kicking are collective butts.

I recall a certain movie with the line, "If you build it, they will come." C'mon Auburn. If you build it, we will come. We want to come. Give us something to come to! I can only hope that the entire city council can endure and embrace a vision that all of Auburn wants to share.....before it is too late.

Anyone see the Auburn Reporter where Councilmember Virginia Haugen was investigated for at least assisting with the posting of a sign above Auburn on July 4th where the sign read "Will the last business to leave downtown please turn out the lights". She calls it a "prank" and that she lied to police because she felt "bullied and intimidated". Yeah, I am sure she went right to the Mayor and complained about how unprofessional these officers were. That is no where in Robert Whale's depiction of the events. Haugen played a poor joke, lied about it when caught, and then blamed the police. Wow. And this is supposed to be more than I imagined? Imagine my vote NOT going to her by any means. My tax dollars paying for my police to investigate my councilmember for demeaning my town. You have got to be kidding me!
