Since he also went to a sports site, I guess that's the root cause of his problems. Let's put monitoring software on our network, where are their IT people living in the stone age? All schools should be running both monitoring and blocking software. I just this is the type of employee you get when the board only hires friends and relations

Of interest to this taxpayer is the status of his gold-lined teacher's pension.

Don't "journalists" ask questions anymore?

Relax ladies and gents, the guy checked his hotmail account and spam popped up... porn of some type... i'm sure he didnt appreciate a pop up advertisement on his computer... i'm not soo sure older teachers are especially good with computers and technology in these days... so the guy saids, i'm 50 some....taught for over 30 years and i was careless not to shut the computer down before any students seen it.... so he probably thought i'll retire now and i'll agree never to teach again as long as you give me sick days , medical insurance, etc. i wouldn't go throwing this guy to the dogs over some spam junk mail....

If our IT department can restrict our internet access at work, why can't the schools routinely block porn sites?

I'm probably more guilty than anyone alive at abusing my internet access at work, but I'm certainly smart enough to keep the p0rn access to home use ;) This guy probably has a problem that needs to be worked out if he can't do without for 8 hours a day.

Scck it to him MOM. Ley him enjoy the benefits of prison life, he will have lots of porn and he wont need a computer for it. Also, it is time to look at people and their retirements that OUR LEGISLATURE was so nice to provide. Especially to those who are going or who should have gone to jail. Why was he not prosecuted, perhaps more heads would roll?

Shouldn't you be teaching your class?
And by the way, since WE the taxpayers pay his meager salary and razor-thin bennies, he is accountable to us. His business is our business.

I think whoever heads up their IT department should also lose their job. School computers should never have access to websites that are inappropriate to children. There is no reason why a 4th grade teacher needs to go anywhere but educational sites. His email should also have filters on it so they can not claim it was a spam pop-up message. Come on people, schools don't use AOL for internet connections. (AOL being the worse at unwanted pop-up and downloading porn without your knowledge)

A pop-up? Good answer. I guess that's his story and he's sticking to it. What about the previous issue with the hand down the pants? I wonder what else occurred that wasn't reported?

Mom - pretty harsh, aren't you? If that's how you feel about all men it's a wonder you're a mom.

It appears that this guy was a perv all along. He got away with it once. Glad they got him the second time.

Good riddance to bad garbage.

Um...the school district can easily block certain internet activity without having to 'buy' additional software.

He was checking his personal email on the school's time. It doesn't matter that it was inadvertent because he was still doing something that he shouldn't have been doing. If he adhered to the school's policy on internet usage he wouldn't be suspended facing termination.
