<quoted text>Actually you make a good point as to why they are not here. In areas that do have cougars they do occasionally attack and or stalk people, usually joggers or hikers or more often there dog that is running with them. Not often but it does happen. No such stories here, ever.
The cougar attacks out west happened b/c humans
were encroaching on their land. We are tearing down
more and more forests to build housing for the
7 billion ppl on the planet.

A large cat is a predator. Not only would he have
large areas of forest land to roam, he'd have a plentiful
food supply.

Just 20 yrs ago ppl laughed at the idea that coyotes
might be in this area. Now they have become a huge
nuisance. Killing domestic animals.

So very sorry for my late reply, I was enjoying my holiday with my children. here are just a few things you should find interesting in your investigation of my facts. 1st: cougar killed by deer hunter in GA, near LaGrange Nov, 2008. GA fish and game, Atlanta Journal Constitution. 2nd: Cougar shot and killed by police in ILL suburb April 2008, many newspapers also ILL dept of wildlife. 3rd: Cougar shot and killed in backyard in DesMoines Iowa Oct 5, 2012. KCCI channel 8HD, good article. 4th: Cougar killed in Conn. June 14, 2012. CBS, Conn. Talk to MR. Paul Rego with "DEEP" he is a wildlife biologist and has some great info. That is North, South, East, and West. I have several sightings by officers and persons of considerable wildlife knowledge who have made reports of sightings in the past few years in and around my state as well as neighboring states.I hope that you find something in one of these kills or conformations to be credible and as exciting as one of my personal sightings was to me. THEIR HERE, The real info now concerns their lineage. Good luck in your hunt for the facts, I hope you get to see one yourself someday, they are truly amazing. Thanks for your time and the discussion. Happy New Year friend..

The initial discussion was about Leopards being sighted near the Summersville WV area. I think the closest anyone has gotten to see one of these cats was a quick slithering black tail, which could have been a tail of a black snake slithering to it's hole. I personally would like to see photos of these exotic animals,(Leopards, wolves, Sasquatch, and the Ghost of Rt19---119) National Geographic would flood into Summersville just to interview you and to see your cat.

The origional discussion was about mountian lions, the hunting regulations say it is illegal to kill one but people say they dont exist. It also states elk arent to be killed. Are they non existant too??`I guess if the keyboard commandoes on here havent seen one for themselves it doesnt exist. How many of you have seen a coyote in the woods? If you have seen one you know how elusive they are, if you havent seen one they simply dont exist.

So post a link to a pic. It only takes a few minutes to set up a flikr account. Give the Gauley Ranger district biologist a call, too. He's a good guy and would be excited to learn about it.

As for coyotes, you're giving them too much credit. They're as thick as deer along Route 39 at night, especially between Nettie and Fenwick Mountain. Same with black bear between Mill Point and Cranberry Glades.

But yet there's not one picture or account of a mountain lion despite over 300,000(legal) hunters in the woods during deer season. Imagine that...300,000 people in the woods actively looking for something to shoot at.

I guess these people see these things been practicing the boone county mating call too often then. There is no such thing as a mountian lion in wv, only opiate induced visions.

At one time in my life, back in my younger years when I was as wild as one of you Mountain Lions, I too had seen such animals, Mainly 'Pink elephants, I even spoke with and had an intelligent conversation with the King of rock and roll, Elvis Presley' some bad stuff, it was.

Well I'm glad to see not a single person attacked my easily verifiable info. Just the topic, ok? We have many coyotes everywhere and if you haven't seen one I'm guessing you don't get out much. I
have predator called and helped control them for years. They are nothing like wolves, when it comes to staying clear of humans or most of their habits. The big cats are more like wolves when it comes to their elusiveness. I'VE seen a few trail cam photo's from WV according to persons showing them, however, I really don't know where there from. I guess it is ok to be skeptical of something one hasn't seen for themselves, but before I'd ridicule someone I'd have to have more info than the official report at the time. I've never been big on telling someone else what THEY SAW or didn't see. Thanks for your time, Happy New Year.

You will never ever pull me into an argument about ghost, black cat tails and pink elephants. Now sasquatch is a different thing, I have seen one of those, but for arguments sakes I will not go into a discussion for fear that they may be a close relative of someone, and by no means do I want to belittle or do I want to hurt feelings, as they are not pleasant to look at or to be around. And they stink like they haven't had a bath since birth.

You posted some great info on mountain lions, too bad none were in WV or even close. I think most people know there are big cats in certain other states, but not WV. There are confirmed cougars in the Black Hills and also in Florida, sometimes they roam a bit. Sometimes they escape from people, either as pets or from a sanctuary. There is no evidence at all that mountain lions live and breed in WV. But thanks for the info.

The legend of Bigfoot has been around for nearly 500 years and no one has come up with sound evidence that they physically exist. I can imagine the same circumstuntal evidence with the Black Leopards and Mt.Lions of WV will be a legend also. But, circumstances could bring about changes in our climate to the point to where they will eventually migrate northward from Florida and populate and breed any where in the Eastern hemisphere. Not saying that about the ghost on rt19-119, that bugger gives me the willies. Hehehe

I also think they will eventually make their way to WV. At their current rate of expansion my guess is somewhere between 25 and 50 years from now there will be a breeding population of mountain lions in WV. They are definitely expanding their range and the young males like to roam. I for one am not looking forward to that day. I am glad they are not here right now, they are dangerous and I personally will shoot them.

I would think that you are the only one that eats dog, let all of us know how you prepare it, and if it is deli-sh cuisine and if it's a receipe that has been passed down to you from you parents? You may have something.
