Easter is the day when we celebrate Jesus Christ rising from the dead. Jesus is the Son of God and heroically gave His life to die for our sins. On the third day after He died -- the day we now celebrate as Easter Sunday -- His friends went to His grave, and found that He had risen from the dead. They saw an angel who told them, "Don't be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn't here! He has been raised from the dead, just as He said it would happen."

Will be lucky to get a whopping 5 or so posts to this topic. Sadly, if there was a reference to whores or drugs in the title, you would get many more. It's a shame. Of course, this is a gossip forum but it is a shame how few people seem to remember good things and what really matters but dwell on BS and gossip about who's the biggest slut in the county. Moral of the story is: gossip is entertaining sometimes but always remember who made all of this possible.

Our country needs to get back to the basics, and we are, regardless of what our president says, a Christian nation. Thank the Lord daily we are free, and pray everyday that the right person is going to be in office to do the Lords will and everything else will fall back into place where it needs to be.

The Bible says my King is the King of the Jews Ö Heís the King of Israel. Heís the King of Righteousness. Heís the King of the Ages. Heís the King of Heaven. Heís the King of Glory. Heís the King of Kings, and Heís the Lord of Lords.

Thatís my King! I wonder do you know Him?

My King is a sovereign King. No means of measure can define His limitless love. Heís enduringly strong. Heís entirely sincere. Heís eternally steadfast. Heís immortally graceful. Heís imperially powerful. Heís impartially merciful.

Do you know Him?

Heís the greatest phenomenon that has ever crossed the horizon of this world, Heís Godís Son, Heís the sinners Savior, Heís the centerpiece of civilization, Heís unparalleled, Heís unprecedented. Heís the loftiest idea in literature. Heís the highest personality in philosophy. Heís the fundamental doctrine of true theology. Heís the only one qualified to be an all sufficient Savior.

I wonder if you know Him today?

He supplies strength for the weak. Heís available for the tempted and the tried. He sympathizes and He saves. He strengthens and sustains. He guards and He guides. He heals the sick. He cleansed the lepers. He forgives sinners. He discharges debtors. He delivers the captives. He defends the feeble. He blesses the young. He serves the unfortunate. He regards the aged. He rewards the diligent. And he beautifies the meek.

I wonder if you know Him?

Heís the key to knowledge. Heís the wellspring of wisdom. Heís the doorway of deliverance. Heís the pathway of peace. Heís the roadway of righteousness. Heís the highway of holiness. Heís the gateway of glory.

Do you know Him?

Well, His life is matchless. His goodness is limitless. His mercy is everlasting. His love never changes. His Word is enough. His grace is sufficient. His reign is righteous and His yoke is easy and His burden is light. I wish I could describe Him to you. Yes, Heís indescribable. Heís incomprehensible. Heís invincible. Heís irresistible. You canít get him out of your mind. You canít get him off of your hand. You canít outlive him and you canít live without Him. Well, the Pharisees couldnít stand Him. But they found out they couldnít stop Him. Pilate couldnít find any fault in Him. Herod couldnít kill him. Death couldnít handle Him, and the grave couldnít hold Him. Yea! Thatís my King!

I came here to this thread because of the title. I wanted to read the wonderful things here because alot on this board is usually mean spirited. At the bottom of this post, I was using the words to myself....Amen.

Well that was a poor choice of words, all I can say is Jesus forgives everyone.

And I have read this board for two years and this is my third post,

Easter has nothing to do with the bible or Jesus. It's actually a pagan holiday and Christians are NOT supposed to worship ANY pagan holidays, including Easter and Christmas.

Easter is a time Christians reflect on God's greatest gift to the world, Jesus Christ. Jesus was crucified taking our sin into death, was buried, and was resurrected on the third day. Easter a pagan holiday? Maybe for some, but a true Christian doesn't worship a Santa Claus style rabbit that delivers chocolate eggs. JESUS is my reason for the season! I wonder do you know Him?

easter literally is the crossification of the sun through the vernal or spring equinox. At which time. The sun is ressurected. As the day becomes longer than the night. Clearily this holiday has been a round long before jesus.in the old days people did not want to convert totallyto Christianity so many pagan traditions carried over. Like Easter eggs and the bunny represents the goddess. Eostre hence where the name Easter comes from.she revered rabbits especially white ones and are a sign of fertility as is spring.

You can believe what you want, but you are simply wrong. Easter has been and always will be, a pagan holiday. Passover (Christian version) is the closest thing that is related to what Christians worship Easter as.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passover_ (Christian_holiday)

Easter is not a Christian name. It is Chaldean (Babylonian) in origin - the name Astarte, one of the titles of Beltis, the queen of heaven. The name Astarte, as found on the Assyrian monuments by the noted archeologist Layard, was the name Ishtar. The worship of Bel and Astarte was introduced very early into Britain, along with the Druids, "the priests of the groves," the high places where the pagans worshipped the idols of Baal. In the Almanac of the 1800's, May 1st is called Beltane, from the pagan god, Bel. The titles Bel and Molech both belong to the same god.

"We must remember that Semiramis (also known as Ishtar) of Babylon, the wife of Nimrod and mother of Tammuz, was the same goddess worshiped throughout the world under various names, such as the Egyptian fertility god, Artemis, the Roman goddess of licentiousness, Venus, the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite, and the Ephesian, many-breasted fertility god, Diana, as well as many others.

The (Easter) bunny, the oldest pagan symbol of fertility - Semiramis - has absolutely NOTHING to do with the resurrection of Christ.

Nor does the Sunrise service. Jesus was resurrected while it was still DARK!

"And early came Mary Magdalene, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre." John 20:1

Sunrise services are for the worship of the Pagan Sun god - ONLY! In addition, Jesus was NOT resurrected on Sunday, the first day of the week." This was written by professor of theology, they study religion for their entire life's. Go ahead and try and argue with them.

I'm overjoyed that someone else has finally remembered Jesus.

After all these years, he's finally going to get issued a work permit and start cooking at La Caretta again.

I've soooo missed the mouth watering salsa that he makes.

Viva Jesus!

I completely understand your point. Again, I don't celebrate nor worship the title Easter. It's a time that Christians celebrate God's gift to man.

It has nothing to do with faith or what you believe in. These are historical facts about Easter and Christmas. You don't argue about what happen in World War 2, because it is historical fact, as is the origin of Easter and Christmas.

Those of you saying Easter didn't start with Jesus....you are correct, but you are wasting your time. Trying to tell a Christian they are wrong and they need to research or read a history book is futile. Remember, the greatest enemy to Christianity is reason.
