When the big ice storm came through that year, we were without electricity for nine days. Believe you me I counted every one of them because I had three little ones at the time and no heat but a kerosene heater. That was a long time for me back then.

No crackhead, federal regs only allows so many hours of on duty time a day. There are bunches of crews here so they can work around the clock. As I mentioned in another forum that copper thieves have struck and slowed the progress.

Going on 8 days is unacceptable, total BS. No excuse for irish corner not being online by now. It would be different if it was some remote area with minimal customers...

What do you mean it would be different if it were some remote area with minimal customers? I am remote and I consider myself just as important as the next person. I pay my bill the same as everyone else that pays their bill. You make it sound like Irish Corner is above waiting like the rest of us......

That may a small factor, however...

Well alot of places are rock throwing distance and still no power. They don't even have to get off the road for anything hardly to do the repairs. Place a pole and reattach the wires then reset the breaker. Thats what it would take out on Broad st in summersville, couple hundred feet off broad st and set on the nice paved street to do all the repairs. dont even have to worry about traffic to slow down or anything but it would be to simple to set a pole and transfer the wires and transformer over to the new one. I know its terrible but fix it as you go thru the area before moving on to other places and still driving by it everyday and doing nothing.....

They probably had/ have to wait for a piece to come in or new poles. They're doing all they can. You don't know how far the grid travels. The last thing they want to do is turn the breaker and BOOM! start at square one all over again. I've seen these men after their shifts, they look completely worn out. Plus, many have left their families to travel to help us. They've made sacrifices just like we had to not having power.

I know it's frustrating, but it wont stay off forever.

Just figure you say it its simple to set poles & transfer wires I just have to ask how your know how simple it is? My grandmother had to have that done at get house about 2 months ago & it took at least 4 hours...i doubt many people would call 4+ hours of work in 90 degree weather simple even if they were doing a simple task. I hardly call messing with electricity all day simple. I'm with "think" I know its frustrating but there line men are doing a wonderful job & I appreciate them!
