Richwood's Mayor

I heard about the children services thing with his son and I know people that party with him, sorry, the town gossip is right on this time.

Keep reporting the facts. Send this INFO to the local papers and the out of town WV Newspapers. No reason to allow this clutz to make WV look bad. This is just what the NY Times is looking for. Recall. Remove. Evict. Certainly there is a way to remove this bozo from office.

Herd the newest screw up? The city can now at the will of the mayor send city workers and equipment to a private drive way or lot and clean it up at citys expense. Right, I dont type or even spell well, but I normally hire those who do, to do it in my stead.

That may not be a bad idea in all instances. My husband and I just returned from a visit to Richwood...so many old houses that need to be torn down...and abandoned areas. Would make the city a lot more appealing if all of this was cleaned up.

You know it must make all of you feel really good to trash someone and not have to answer for you actions. I know for a fact unless you are a social worker you would not be able to get the information that you have been posting on here . Not all of us just fell off the turnip truck.Bart I am sure if you look around Charleston they do the same thing that is one thing but all the all the rumors and trashing a person are jut bad. Maybe it is his ex wife or some old girl friend who has a ax to grind with the maybor and if you all feel so strongly why dont one of you come to Richwood and take on his job and lets see how good you do cleaning up after the drunks and dope dealers.And just how much trouble would it cause if you used you real name yea who like to smear other people names. You are sad and so are the rest of of you who are adding to this hateful witch hunt.

no no judi. here in charleston we do what we are legaly allowed to do and using city workers to do projects for private land owner is not legal. It is called mis appropation of public funds, and can be a felony. As for the drunks and dope dealers, that is a police matter and the mayor would have to have those powers, which he does not. all he can do is take credit for it. If hyou run for public office you can expect to be smeared if you have no clue as to what you should know, and as to what you can do.

Bart Bart I am willing to bet you have as much corruption in Charleston of doing for the good old boys as anywhere else in the country. Get real.That is corruption and if you want to say the mayor is corrupt that is probably ok if you can prove it but to smear this man with all the accuations about his personl life . That is just nasty.IF he is a bad mayor get him out and you go do his job and do it better and make the city of richwood proud.Or probably Annoymous would probably be better at it of course that person cant reveal their name as it would cause a lot of problems for them. TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAD.

I pity the next elected Mayor, what a huge mess he/she will have to clean up after Baber goes out of office,,,,if he goes out I should say. The rumor mill has him already planning on being re-elected. After Baber's 2 years in office, 3 council members resigned, 1 stuck it out until the recent election and one council member chose not to be re-elected and the City finished this fiscal year in the RED. Baber has cost the City money, money they do not have to part with so easily, he runs the City the way he chooses without any regard to his council members and these council members will be held every bit accountable for the screw ups Baber makes, with or without their input. Baber has entered into atleast 2 binding contracts costing the city more money than needed all because he agreed and signed those contracts without the council's full knowledge of the terms. Baber's response was, someone should have read the contract and another time he said, well, I am new at this,(Mayor). A new Mayor would rely on his council, half of them were there 2 yrs prior to his election and even 1 of those council members was an ex-Mayor of Richwood!

In Baber's defense and his own words, his goal is to "pertify" Richwood. A person can "pertify" the town all he wants but that IS NOT moving Richwood FORWARD, that is just window dressing. Baber's goal is to move himself FORWARD politically, to make ALL the contacts he can, he is using Richwood as a stepping stone, I am sure he will deny all of this but time will tell, give him enough time and you will see as some of us already see what he is up to.

Baber was never indicted or charged with the many illegal activities he has performed because he has said he was sorry to the State Officials, claimed he was "new" to the job and repaid what he owed to the City of Richwood, so far. Who knows how creative he can get in his remaining 2 years in the Mayor's Office.

As for Baber's personal life, one does not have to be a social worker to know things, he has kids, kids do talk and if he only knew how much and to who those kids talked to, well, you can imagine what could happen, an accidental fall down a flight of stairs?

All of this is just a small scraping of the surface, some issues are known, quite a few have not yet been revealed but it is coming! All a person has to do is listen to Baber's interview's on the TV/Radio/Newspaper's, he likes to say "I" in almost every sentence then he says "WE" during the negative comments on the town.

I can not see ANY resemblance between Baber and Sonny Bono, in fact, I think Bono's widow should sue Baber for slandering her dead husband that way. Baber should be MAN enough to make his own way into the political arena instead of using a famous man.

I have 1 piece of advise to anyone that is interested in Baber, do not buy his books, if you look on Amazon.com , thery have a comment section there as well, your money is happily taken there to order Baber's book(s) but the books never seem to be received and NO refunds offered.

Just because his father left the area, and the Mayor happened to be born in NY, is no reason to believe he is not trying to make good things happen in Richwood.
And when you compare him to previous Mayors, he is doing as fine a job as is possible considering what people and resources he is working with.

Many times people {a town} are just a refletion of their leadership. Is this man what you really want for our young people, children or the people of our town to be like? Why do you have a problem with the truth? The truth is he should not be in leadership of a chicken fight, A whole town? Boy did he pull the wool over the whole town's eyes. I blame the people in charge of elections, there must have or should have been some kind of back ground checks? who is in charge of this sort of thing and why is this mans life and lies about his life and the true Bob Baber being found out about now, after we are stuck with him.

Susan you must be kin to annomymous or maybe you are annomynous . What do you care who is the mayor of Richwood it appears you do not live there so you are not stuck with him.In most little towns you do not have to have a degree ,even first hand knowledge of how government is run to be a mayor. You just have to get enough votes to win . Maybe that is how he did it do you think(Duh) Quit tearing this man apart and go out and do soemthing with your life like run for mayor and beat him out I am sure your credentials would stand up to the scrutinity of the people . Get a grip Judi, of AOL and NOT Richwood. WE are not trashing Baber, we are reporting facts and if you interpret these facts as trash, then you have your answer! You shouldn't let your heart turn a deaf ear on the facts, only a family member, like a sister would do that, no wonder your heart is aching so bad, it must be such a hard burden to carry to know how your brother really, truly is.

what a shame that these people of richwood feel compelled to speak on this site about a mayor of their own beloved town.
they are not trashing the man only expressing the truth and the shame they feel that they were fooled and drawn in by this mans bs. if all these people are from richwood or live there it becomes clear, that they are more ashamed and embarssed than evil. all the things reportd on this site are indeed true and only touch the tip of the peoblem. be advised that there is much much more. as all people, i wish that it were not true. but as an adult there are times when you must accept that all people are not the same as the good people of our wonderful town.

Af for AOL you too can have AOL even in Richwood (did you know that ) it is like those who have Columbus Ohio on their mail and say they are form Richwood.And Bart how do you know they are expressing the truth is their any evidenece to back up any of the rumors that have been put on here newspaper articles ,I am sure if some of this was true it would be in the papers ,have you read it there or are you just listening to these people on here rant and rave and I do respond as an adult and it was the good people of your wonderful town who elected this man .And no he is not my brother I don't even know the man if I ran into him in Richwood I would not know who he was I just hate to see anyone trashed like he has been done on here with out one piece of evidence and in a sense we are all brothers .I go to Richwood several time a year and I see no difference or great improvements it is just a sad place too bad you all can not take your energy and put it to good use doing something for you town.Just a though.

yes judi i do know it is the truth. all one has to do is read the council reports in the newspaper, and talk to the people who talk to the mayor. he has a big mouth and cannot keep it shut, even to tell on himself. the mayor is doing something for the town, he is moving more rainbow trash in and thinks they are good for the town.
