Man badly beaten in bar fight

I can not read the whole story - what happened and does anyone know how the victim is doing? This is awful!

Fight did not occur in BottleCap Lounge

We are dismayed that the Key West Citizen entitled the June 3 front-page article about a tragic incident that occurred on the street as a "bar fight." This event happened out on the street and had nothing whatsoever to do with our bar, BottleCap Lounge.

The alleged attackers, who were walking down Simonton Street, had never even been in our establishment. The lounge was closed, completely locked, empty of patrons with lights off when this occurred. The only reason you may mention our business is because the assaulted victims had been in our bar over 15 minutes earlier, or because our innocent BAR BACK, Jason, who is now considered a hero, was alerted to the fight so he ran out of our building to assist and was then brutally attacked for no reason.

This tragic street event could have happened anywhere, and now we are wrongly labeled as the bar that had that fight. We run a nice, clean and safe locals lounge where our professional staff, trained in alcohol and liability safety, is conscientious to make certain patrons are safe.

There was not a bar fight at our establishment that night. The Citizen should consider a retraction of the title of that article.

All Parties involved in both bar fights at Sloppys and Bottel Cap included people that are non-locals.. Starting to see my point.......

"A Key West Citizen" is not at all helpful and extremely judgemental. What comes around goes around, one day you or someone in your family will need compassion and I can't imagine were it will come from.
