Gravette teens accused of raping 14-year-old girl Monday night

I know all the boys that have been charged. I went to high school them. In every school there is a girl that is none for what shes willing to do. I only hung out with the girl one time. She seamed nice but was all over one of my guy friends who were over 18. Im not saying that she desirved it but if you go to a party were your boyfriend said it was not save to come and he did not want you there. Would you have still gone. Iv been to party in Gravette, and all the little and big towns partys. The same thing goes one. Drinking and brugs. Yes most of my friends that i graduated with have kids but ALL are married. These boy now what could happen and there worst fear happend that night. I now the mom did not know they were haveing a party. She was working late. Its rong in my eyes you blame the boys for what happen. Im shure you all were kids once. Think what you did behind your parents back and tell me you did not go and partys and drink. In this day and age parents dont want to know there kids are doing this things. You all bring up her age. i know she nows about sex and how its done. You cant tell me that kids that yuong are not haveing sex. Just ask kids that yuong. In my brothers freshmen class witch that girl was a part of 60% have had sex. All you parents dissing these parents for the actions of there kids take a look at your own faimly. I dont think your all that right. Im sorry if i steped on any toes but only the ones that are close to these people can do the blaming. The rest can shuve it. It will all come out in the end. I can tell you that if i still was in that school and i hade my heart problem i want the best medical people there witch three of the boys kick ass at that. I hope none of this stops them from going to med. school.

Geez...I sure hope "A friend of the boys" is taking an English class, or spelling. Drives me crazy to see people this "intelligent" graduate from high school.

I concur with "Concerned". "A friend of the boys" stated she went to high school with the guys that are being accused. I suppose this means she attended Gravette High School. I certainly hope that she is one of a few that gradute from there with such poor grammer and spelling. I am not so sure that I trust her percentage quote on students that are having sex either. I can not imagine her math skills are any better than her English. As a parent (yes, once a teen and partied like no tomorrow during that time; hence "party like it's 1999" was our motto) I do believe that there are sexual acts among the young teens but this girl spoke like 14 year olds are doing it everywhere, all the time. THAT I don't believe! All this is a moot point. Rape is rape when the individual has not reached the age of accountibility according to the law. Most teens think they know it all, even my own. I tell mine that when they become of age to make a difference, in what they believe is right and just they can pack their bags and hit the steps in D.C. to be a lobbiest to change these laws they complain about! Even "A friend of the boys" can begin to make a differenc in a positive way!

What is good parenting? What is bad parenting?Allowing or choosing to ignore what your teen is doing anytime of the day or night appears to be bad parenting. Whether it's a young girl that can't say "NO" because she's had too much to drink or it's teen boys drinking in their own home then satifiying their own sexual desires while parents are at work. Is what the guys did a reflection of how their parents raised them? I hope not. But you could argue that the boys' too have had bad parenting. So the girls parents have shown bad parenting by letting her be out at all hours of the night but would you call it GOOD PARENTING if a group of guys' satisfy their own sexual appetite on a 14 year old girl? Who is suppose to be the "responsible" party here? Who should have known better? The 14 year old? The 17 & 18 year olds? Or the parents of each? When are people going to stop playing the blame game and own-up to their own-up!

I can attest to that... in Gravette Arkansas this is VERY true. Chicks in Gravette and Sulpher Spgs are well known for having round heels. Some of my favorite hunting grounds when I was younger and single. Was never into 13 yr olds, but they were out there and available.

Chances are the girl got caught by her parents and had to make up somethig.

But let me tell you something only one boy admitted to having sex with her and guess what he is still going to court so maybe u need to figure out what u are talking about before u go blabing. The statuatory rape law is as follows, any person under the age of 16 is not competent to "consent" to any type of sexual act, if any person "of age" has any sort of sexual relation with any person under the age of 16, it is statuatory rape.......period, it is that simple and if they admit to it then well they deserve what they get it is a shameful and ridiculous situation.

I have copied relevant code from Arkansas statute for those involved in this discussion;

Arkansas 5-14-103. Rape.

(a) A person commits rape if he or she engages in sexual intercourse or deviate sexual activity with another person:

(3)(A) Who is less than fourteen (14) years of age.

(B) It is an affirmative defense to a prosecution under subdivision (a)(3)(A) of this section that the actor was not more than three (3) years older than the victim; or

(4)(A) Who is less than eighteen (18) years of age and the actor is the victim's:

(B) It is an affirmative defense to a prosecution under subdivision (a)(4)(A) of this section that the actor was not more than three (3) years older than the victim.

(b) It is no defense to a prosecution under subdivisions (a)(3) or (4) of this section that the victim consented to the conduct.

So it is not a defense that the alleged victim consented to sexual activity but there is a viable defense for the defendants who are not more than 3 years older than the alleged victim.

The prosecutors involved must, in addition to the law herein cited, consider the sentiment of the alleged victim and her family prior to formal charging anyone.

Hopefully, all who have heard of this disappointing episode, young or old, have learned more about the downside of irresponsible behaviors.

I am a teen almost 14 and I drink and I know when I get too much to drink or drunk that I am responsible for what I do or let be done to me. I chose to drink and if sex happens while I am drunk then it happens. I don't blame anyone else. I have been drinking since i was almost 12 and sex since I was 12 1/2. It is my business and no one else business what I do. It looks to me like this girl just is whining about something she knew would probably happen when she drank.
