I was a student at LCB when it closed down. I transfered from one of the top schools in Louisiana during the 2nd semester which was Lacassine High School. Before I went to LCB I didn't want to go there because of the things I heard about the school, but when I got there my feelings changed there I felt like it was a second home. I learned a whole lot & I actually did classwork & homework. About all this we had more money than any other school in Lake Charles yeah we may have had it but it didn't go twards the students. It took me forever to get a Biology book & workbook. My English II teacher wasn't even certified so you tell me where the money was when us students didn't have those things? I miss LCB a whole lot I would have loved to grauate from there in 2009. From the looks of it though that's never going to happen but I know one things for sure I'm going to be a LAKE CHARLES-BOSTON COUGAR FOR LIFE!!

Also to address the attendence thing. Yes, there were some people who didn't care about learning & there parents probably didn't care either but that's what over shadowed the straight A students like myself. Who attended school faithfully & cared about getting there education.

Everybody knows that LC-B has been on the list to be shutdown. Why take it serious now? They been tring to shutdown LC-B eversince it became predominantly black. The whole purpose was to take Boston out the name. It used to be to separate schools.(W.O. Boston and Lake Charles High) LC High was an all white school, W.O Boston was an all black school. When the schools became intergrated all the whites move out. Why do you think they may it Lake Charles Academy, they know they could have left Boston in it. That just goes to show that there still are a bunch of racial pricks out there. I graduated from Lake Charles-Boston,but I would have love to graduate from W.O Boston. I knew it was going to close as soon as Mr.Cannon retired. He knew it was going to close, that's why he left. THAT PUNK. Left in the middle of the school year like a hoe. Ya'll should know whose getting close down next......WASHINGTON-MARION. I hope they have better luck than we did. We absolutely waited to late to put up a fight. I bet most you still don't know whats going on. Everybody knew the test scores were low. But its not the sudents fault. I blame all the parents. It starts in the home. The only tme parent were supportive of their children were doing extracurricular activities. If I'm wrong comment me back. Cause if most of them were not, the school would not be CLOSED DOWN.

I read all of the comments and it is unfortunate that the school closed down. I remember feeling that passion when the schools first merged too, and nobody listened as we begged them to leave us alone. I believe that in life, people can become whatever they want to be no matter where they start out. It is up to the student to get past all of this. Whoever commented from Shreveport that we are the original class is 100% correct and I agree with all of your comments. We have to stay positve and a part of our children's lives because they are our future. My children attend predominantly white schools. Call me a sellout but I want them to have the same opportunities because they will be competing with these same children for jobs and college placement. I also believe that when your children learn how to exist and be individuals among other races, they do not grow up with stereotypes like some of the comments that I have read. We have got to move forward, teach our children to set goals for their future, explore new opportunities and make as many lifelong friends as they can.

Well I was a teacher at LCB and have been in the educational system for a number of years outside of Lake Charles. I know how folks can play with numbers. Let me say this I don't know what Calcasieu Parish said they spent the money on but I do know this much the Teachers and Students at LCB didn't have what they needed to be successful. I think everyone has lost sight of the main focus. The students who the powers at be said could not pass the test did. With no equipment and copiers the teachers and students still succeeded. I also know that the amount of money spent per student will be much lower for schools with larger numbers of students. If you had any KNOWLEDGE about NUMBERS you would know that. How would you know Mini Me about the students and parents of LCB were you there? I was and my students none of which were honor students came and wanted to learn in my class, not to mention I taught math and I had to throw them out of my class. Those of you writing comments here should write about what you know and not what you speculate.
