Just a question, Seeing as the bridge was closed for 5 hours, wouldn't it have been a good idea if someone (say from DPW) put signs down several miles of each side of 159 to say it was closed so that at rush hour people would have been able to make other decisions on how to get across the river before they got to the 190 bridge and had to turn around and go back the way they came. Seeing as this happened at 12:30PM it would seem that there was time to do that.

Is there going to be a follow up to this story with details? Who, injury report status? anything? The Hartford Courant does not do a good job following up on any stories with the outcomes.

in response to bad situation they really should have considering the sitition there are not many ways to get over the river between springfield and hartoford there are only 3 ways to get across 190 140 and dexter coffin or I91 it was handled very poorly and to noyb yes the should have followed up but the hartford courant and fox 61 never follow up thats why i rely on channel 3 for news and NBC for weather lol

Does not matter, it takes too long to get a Variable Message Board, and by the time it was up and running the bridge would have been open.

Keep your radio on for traffic reports, or you can sign up for e-alerts on most of the news websites. They can come to your cell phone.

I live on Pearl and had to go all the way back to the Dexter, and I had to "gotta go, gotta go, gotta go" on top of it all too. Inconsiderate clowns!!!

Daily Horoscope for December 9

Scorpio

If something is bothering you, it's important that you say so now, loudly and clearly. It's no good bottling things up any longer because that will only lead to resentment and a slow-burning anger. However, it's important that you know when to shut up too, otherwise you might overstate your case or sound so demanding that you turn others against you.
