I do support giving gays and all people the right to have a legal union just like a traditional marriage. They should be able to file taxes together, adopt children to create a family, and have the same assumptions of power of attorney over each other just like a traditional marriage. What gays shouldn't have a right to is to make a church marry them. I don't know the specifics of thís bill but that is the way it should be.

Marriage in this country derived from Christianity and the traditions and rituals are of the Christian culture. Incorrect – There are many cultures and religions in our country. Have been forever. You can get married in America by a judge or town clerks and never have the word god mention during the ceremony. A legal marriage in American does not have anything to do with religion unless the people getting married want to include it in their ceremony. and guess what…it has always been that way. FYI – Jewish people get married every day in American…pretty sure that their ceremony isn’t derived from Christianity and the traditions and rituals are of the Christian culture. You’re not alone here reading though this thread, it is clear that many don’t understand what the real issues is. But it is interesting that you admit you don’t know the specifics, but then are willing to tell us all how it “should be.”

Do all the homophobic people on here remember the mass hysteria that surrounded the time period right before they started banning indoor smoking? Guess what; It happened anyway. Guess what else; Everyone survived it. Whether or not you agreed with the bans on smoking, you survived the bans. You will surely survive a passing of the bill providing gay people a legal means to marry in NYS. Stop acting like you will die if it passes. You are embarrassing yourselves. Try pulling your heads out of the dark closed little places you call your minds and breath. LoL. It's ok, really! When you forget to look down, checking for that edge so you don't get to close and fall from your precious pedestals; i am sure there will be someone you haven't offended during your miserable closed-minded lives ready to catch you!!!! aah hah hah hah ahhah hah hah. good luck with that.

Other names Yeshua has posted under are Devvy, rushme, Big Rush Fan, and I’m sure there are others. I also took some time to look at some of these posts he made under these names. Guess what I saw? The bible thumbing, holier than thou Yeshua is the guy making all of the mean, hateful posts that show up under these people's names. So take note folks...ignore as you see fit.

Well...at the least Gay Marriage will boost the Wedding Industry in the state and help out Hotels, Restaurants and catering companies. Probably won't help the churches too much

But it is interesting that you admit you don’t know the specifics, but then are willing to tell us all how it “should be.” Regarding being a Christain country: The New England colonists were largely Puritans, who led very strict lives. The Middle colonists were a mixture of religions, including Quakers (led by William Penn), Catholics, Lutherans, Jews, and others. The Southern colonists had a mixture of religions as well, including Baptists and Anglicans. That sounds pretty Christian to me. Regarding having equal rights -- I can't see how you can interpret me as saying homosexuals shouldn't have equal rights. I wittnessed two women holding hands as a display of their orientation while walking up to take communion once. It was obvious they were making a political statement for the purpose of embarrassing the church. It was obvious that the minister and his wife were very privy of the situation even more so than the congregation. Church is a house. It is personal. They shouldn't have to deal with that anymore than you should have to have a policeman come into your home and tell you what you can or can not do. No they can't stop Homosexuals from doing certain things without the risk of getting sued or at least the of litigation. Most homosexuals are decent people and wouldn't do something like that. It is the other 5% what would have a problem even if you hung them with a new rope.

"Paterson says gay marriage bill will pass" Guess he was wrong once again...like he is on EVERYTHING.
He is now going to spend 500K a week on TV commercials for a campaign he has no possibility of winning. He would be better off donating the money to worthy causes, that would help his campaign better than angering us with his dumb commercials.
