Am I missing something here? So, no foul play means no amber alert?

i think the school needs to address the issue with the fear of going to school for fear of a fight. and the parents need also to investigate it there should of been a amber alert issued also in my oppinion

My 11 yr. old is ready for bed by 8pm on a school night. What's with the 4 hours lapse? Just wondering why a parent wouldn't know for 4 hours - where's my son. Guess he could have been at any one of the Smith's on the street. Glad he's OK .

I have 11 year old kids, HOW IN THE HECK DON'T you realize that the kid is missing until 9:00 at night?!?

How sad it that? Why didn't the parents notice that he didn't come home from school, didn't have dinner, didn't have homework, didn't tuck him in bed?

So sad...

Poor kid, to live in fear about going to school because of a bully. Come on parents and teachers lets pay attention to our kids, lets know where they are at all times, keep communication open - and Eyes, ears open to possible problems. I know things happen but let this be a reminder to all - slow down!

I too have an 11 year old and there is NO way that I would assume he is someplace until 9pm! No way! As it is my children have friends over, and rarely go to their friends house because of parents like this! So many parents just let their kids run and have no idea where they are at! You just cannot do that in this day in age.
By the grace of God this kid is safe. Might not be so lucky next time, they better keep an eye on him.

Glad the young man is ok. Parents pull your head out. You are alot of the problem. Rather than keeping him home for fear of a fight-bring him to school and resolve the problem-get involved. 11 year old has no business being at friends houses (until that late)-you should know exactly where he is-communicate. Parents you need to sharpen your skills and pull your heads out- Wait til he is 15-16 (if he's not dead\in juvy) and you'll really have your hands full. Now is the time to step up and start to be parents who raise a child-don't leave it to someone else

According to what I read, it appears the parents thought the boy was at a friend's house but found out around 9 (when he didn't come home) that he wasn't at that house. I can only imagine how it was for them to not find their son until early this morning.

I believe there has to be more to the story then what is being reported. I agree with the fact there is no way a parent can not know where their kid is for 4 hours. Maybe the parents did not come home until 9:00 at night only to discover the kids was not with who he was suppose to be with. The problem may have more to do with a break down in communication. Bottom line is don not put blame on the parents so quickly we do not know all the circumstances.
When I was doing daycare it was not uncommon for parents not to call if they picked their kids up from school and never told me. When they did not get off the buss with my kids I would freak out call the school call the parents only to find out the parents forgot to call. After this occurred a few dozen times, the child really did go missing. I could have assumed that mom forgot to call again, but instead I called Mom and she did not have her, nor did the school know where was. We did find her quickly, but it would have been hours before we knew what happened if I did not follow through and assumed Mom forgot to call AGAIN.

Somebody needs to mack these parents across the head! Looks to me like they don't pay much attention to their kid.

Sounds to me like the kid had just as much fear of his parents as he had of going to school that day. Doesn't say much for the folks, in my opinion.

It does seem odd don't it? Way too long of a time lapse in my opinion. I'd be going nuts.
