HAHAHA you post up a link that is the MOST biased sourse POSSIBLE, thats like if i turned to the government to tell me about the benifits of prohibition, the fact is that this is a major institution which gets media coverage and media is COMPLETLY corrupt and only serving the wants of coorperations and others ways to screw people over and thats exactly what invisible children is, they provide false hope for hundeds of thousands of teens but they are just that, false, its sad how easily good intentions can get circumvented to produce the veryt thing they are fighting against
and you? You have come up with NOTHING! Where is your source?

Have any of you read this article?
http://stopwarcrimes.wordpress.com/2011/10/23...

About the recent discovery of OIL in Uganda. Oh there was oil in Afghanistan/Iraq too where we were 'searching' for Saddam and Bin Laden and sent our troops there for a war!

Also this blog, obviously can't comment on the authenticity of it but it makes an interesting read. IC support using violence to capture KONY, and his bodyguards/army are all children.....

http://visiblechildren.tumblr.com/post/188909...

I can't believe the amount of fake comments on this site obviously been made by the IC!

The money that is donated isnt for the children, its for the soldiers to buy the right technology to find Kony. Hes on the most wanted list. Highly doubtful that its a scam and i hope its not. If your getting all your info from online then most of it has got to be wrong. So if you really care whether its real or not, get your facts strait and dont go telling people what you hear from people you dont know on the internet

Ok one thing am a Ugandan and really appreciate the ic the one problem I have is they seem to have ignored the most important thing that explains African politics like many American do for them to be even more effective at this. And is the most hurtful thing for us as ugandans the question of kony is why it took so long, and who do we count on. I will boldly tell you that our leaders know how easy it is to get kony they have had peace talks with him couple times but I got to tell you the reason they are not the main advocates is because it has attracted funds from the west and that equips them as long term dictators. If they really cared for our children the war after all these years would be over. And trust me ic is making kony popular and also our dictators stronger they will use the same resource to keep oppressing the poor even after kony is gone cause that's what they have done the last 30yrs in the northern region. Secondly over 30 0/0 of our army is in Somalia yet we have our own problems let me educate u African dictators are the hardest and mastered the language Washington wants Hear they know their weakness. So as we fight together for our children please be mindful of the fact that our biggest resistance is actually the dishonesty and intransparency of our president about the kony issue I guarrantie u the security forces in the north are ghost security they will only work within the boundaries the president orders them doesnt matter how much you want to push it. So at the end of the day u techiniqly are going to still work with our corrupt govt with no choice. So at the end of the day it's going to be the Poor regular African suffering please the biggest problem or obstacle is the govt.

If you want to believe that Invisible Children is a scam and do nothing, be my guest. But don't put other offs trusting simply because you don't. You obviously value yourself and your money more than you value a better world and the lives of thousands of children.
I would rather give £100 of my hard-earned money to this group and only £1 of it go to helping these children than to give nothing and be no help to these children at all.
At the end of the day, these obviously intelligent people who run Invisible Children put their lives at risk by going to these places and putting themselves in the public eye. They leave their families, their wives, husbands and children, to go and help others less fortunate than them. They could have put their intelligence to JUST making money, but instead they chose to help people as well - the fact is they still have to make a living, they have themselves and their own families to look after, and to give the best life they can, what is wrong with that? If they can achieve a decent income for their family and AT THE SAME TIME help thousands of African children, if only by simply raising the incredible amount of awareness (that they achieved through excellently made websites, videos and merchandise) that they have done, then I think that is great.
If Mother Theresa had been a millionaire, she would have been able to do a lot more good than she did with nothing.
I am 20 years old and from Oxford, England. I only came across Invisible Children tonight. I have been studying conspiracy theories for many years now. I have a very logical brain and can quickly determine whether a theory is credible or not.
What I will say, is that there is something fishy about the flashiness and professionalism of this group and its websites/videos etc., but if it wasn't for this same flashiness, I don't think the cause would have caught the attention that it has and be achieving the greatness that it is.
Okay, so if you really don't want to support this group, fine, but don't just sit there and do nothing, go and make the world a better place yourself!
The bottom line: I can see that this group is doing a lot more right than wrong and a lot more good than harm. Thanks for reading, Daniel.
Daniel, you are an eloquently spoken young man! I have read this entire thread, but come back to your response out of being touched by your passion for the simple value of being involved and taking a stand for helping the less fortunate. Beautiful! God Bless you, sir! The world needs more folks like you!:)

Sentamu, thank you so much for this reply. It is VERY enlightening and the most worthwhile thing I have read on the topic all day. I am sorry to say that I am aware of this political irony from other causes in Africa. My heart bleeds for the African people and their children and it makes it so hard to know how to help... I hope more individuals such as yourself will speak about these situations as often as possible so that the American (and world) people can see past these corrupt governments to the needs of the PEOPLE. I don't believe in borders, as we are all God's children, and I feel so frustrated with how government, politics, and lies always seem to get in the way of the needs of the people they are established to protect. All my love to you and your family. Thank you for telling us your story. God Bless You.

Whether you agree or disagree with the way Invisible Children do business, one thing at least they are doing is making people aware of the situation, it is then your choice how or if you wish to try to help in some way.

Everyone keeps saying how they don't give enough of their money directly to the children, however they even state on their videos and site that their aim is to make people aware and hence the a large amount of their profit goes into advertising and adin fees - doesn't seem to me like they are hiding anything. On top of this they are also putting money into helping build schools and things and trying to help the people over there get their lives back together.

I think too many people are quick to judge and believe comments that are passed off as facts when they are just someones biased opinions.

Just one question to all you people going against them and trying to slander their name - what have you done today to help another !?!? If i pay a pound and just one penny of that goes to the children directly, 69p goes to spreading awareness to others and the last 30p pays for the person organising the whole thing to get to work to carry on doing their job - seems worth it to me !! Especially if that 69p gets others donating a pound each - even if it does have the foundations of a pyramid scheme - at least they are doing SOMETHING - its more than the rest of us !!

Think the Americans might have learnt though over the Bin Laden thing and start the search for Kony - by looking in his house !!!!

Your post exemplifies why the myopic goals of the Kony2012 video are so dangerous.

Almost everyone in the world, save Rush Limbaugh, hates J Kony. Giving more training and expert American advisors to the Ugandan army keeps Museveni et al in power. Where was the gov't over 30 years ago?

How many of you who saw ICs video actually looked up the history of the LRA or Uganda for that matter? Outside of Wikipedia? Propaganda is dangerous.

In all honesty, any organization that asks for money before service has some issues.

Oh, and I doubt many of the people on this fourm who claim we should get involved are willing to pick up a gun and fight. These are our brothers and sisters you are willing to send into combat because of a video. If this organization wants something done, they should get off their rears and enlist in the Marines.
