WOW this is like the millionth report of a pitbull mauling a person in the news. like omg WAKE UP people! Obviously this is a dangerous breed and needs to be banned and outlawed to breed. Pitt Bull owners BE CAREFULL! they will turn on you and kill you, if not you then one of your family members! Let us highlight the fact that attacks by pitbulls are steadily occurring. In fact, it reinforces the topic that people are still talking about how DANGEROUS this breed is. On personal experience, Ive seen pit bulls attack other dogs. basically, the pit bull owners think they can control their dog and the dog "snaps" and we call the cops. They are banned in various part of Canada and Australia, fully banned in the UK, Denmark, Norway, and in some states in the USA. Please if you are a pit bull owner BE CAREFUL and don't become part of the statistic of an owner being mauled or killed by this breed. I will post more attacks as they come.

You are obviously an idiot when it comes to dogs in general. Pitbulls are just like any other breed, if you raise them to be mean they will be mean. You only hear about pit bull attacks but it isn't the only breed that attacks. I had a german shepard for 13 yrs who was meaner and more protective than my loving pit bull I have now. My dog wouldn't attack anyone unless it was protecting itself or one of us. Pit bulls are animal aggressive by nature that is why mean ignorant people use them for fighting, they allow the owner to break up their fights. Rott weilers are people aggressive by nature, dobermans turn on their owners, german shepards are used for police dogs. Just because there are people who use the strength of a pit bull to be mean attack doesn't mean they are all mean. oprah Winfrey just had a pit bull on her show last week. The pitbull was used for dog fighting. Once it was mauled and missing an ear they left it for dead. The new owner found this pitbull and saved its life. Pit bulls if raised right are the most affectionate dogs you'll ever see and they thrive on attention, they do not shed or eat alot. They are one of the best pets to own. I have one, my daughter has two, a cousin that has two. Friends that slo own them. Check out Oprahs show online. Read about their breed & educate yourself alittle before you open your big mouth. I am not allowing my dog to have puppies because of ignorant people like you and the ignornat people who use them for fighting and toss them when they are done.

I also do not walk my pitbull anymore because she is stronger than me so my 6ft 230 lb son takes her for walks, but he also had to do it for my german shepard when she got to strong for me. I check my yard and fences everyweek in months when she spends alot of time outside to make sure there are no holes being dug but I also had to watch my german shepard for the same things. It is all about being a good, responsible pet owner raising your dog as a part of the family. You hear about pitbull attacks more because they are so strong and really hurt people badly when they do attack. It is very sad and I pray for any one I hear who has been attacked by any dog, or human for that matter. Maybe people should start reporting these dog owners that are abusing their pets that can cause a threat to anyone because of how they are being raised as pets.

The only bad thing about Pit Bulls is the stereo-type that they are given. If pits are raised with love they show love- they can be the sweetest and smartest dogs! I can take a knuckle bone out of my dog's mouth and stick my hand.. the whole thing.. in his mouth while he is chewing on it and he doesn't even pinch my skin..... Try doing that with a chihuahua

I am the owner of an all white, green eyed, Staffordshire Terrier. I saved him from a horrible life and he has been NOTHING but sweet the entire time I've known him. He is unbelievable with kids and even my toddler god-daughter has found herself using him for a playmate and a pillow whever she comes over.
Everyone wants to know what kind of dog he is AFTER they start rubbing him. When I explain that he is a Staffy- they look confused. When I finally say, "Pitbull", they are shocked and usually remove their hands from around his smiling face and take a step back. YES.. he is cuddly, sweet, affectionate, playful, thoughtful, receptive, and most of all WELL TRAINED! I've owned at least a dozen different dogs...from Samoyed, to German Shepherds,to a Great Dane. They all have done something that was deemed "destructive",usual puppy behavior; but all have snapped at me EXCEPT my Pit. And the closest he's ever been to fighting another dog was a testy Shitzu at Petsmart who after sniffiing my dogs butt, decided he'd rather bark at him than befriend him. My dog just sat there confused; looking up at me for an explaination. The Shitzu's owner and I chuckled and they apologized before telling their dog,"Come on, Killer, lets go home."
I have, without a doubt, seen people who have no idea what it takes to properly raise a civilized pitbull. But that isnt a shock, because they THEMSELVES were raised with violence and ignorance, and raise their own CHILDREN the same way. And its doesnt matter if you're prejudiced against breeds of dogs or humans... its wrong, irresponsible, and just as dangerous as the object of your disdain.

WOw I can't beleive this stupid person. You must be out of your mind, or just really dumb. Yea let's just kill off a breed. The thing is if they die we can never get them back. Just like the DoDo bird we will never see one again. The reason pitbulls are aggresive is because they are either provoked or taught to be aggresive. I feel sick to my stomach that there are people like you out there who would just want to get rid of a species because of a few bad apples. Grow up maybe you should just kill yourself so we don't have to hear your dumb comments.

I have 2 male pittbull's who are GREAT with my kids, family, friends and everyone else. They just turned 9 months old. Comment on "Momma of a Pit" I too can stick my my hand in their mouth and they will not harm a hair on my body. They listen better then any dog that i can ever think of. I agree, Pits are the sweetest dogs in the world if they are trained that way. They are truly great dogs to own!!

I'm truely impressed with the loyalty of the pit owners towards their dogs. If you are all being honest about their behavior and are not withholding the stories of the 'time when so and so got hurt'.... then you have made excellent points. I think that when a pit bull attacks, the dog owner should be proscecuted and heavily fined. And.. the animal may or may not need to be destroyed.

My experince with pitbulls, they can be the loving and sweet or they be can be aggressive and unpredictable. Either way they should not be banned, they were breed to be that way, with proper breeding the aggression can be breed out or lessoned. English bulldogs used to bait bulls and our modern day English bulldog has a much tammer personality. The pitbulls might always be aggressive with other dogs though that is their nature not their personality. Overall it is a breed that should be repected and not used as a weapon or fighter for the entertainment of barbaric, uncivilized sick people.

blame the bad owners not the breed. i'd be more worried about my lab than my pit in any situation involving other dogs or children...and 99% of americans seem to think Labs can do no wrong. It's also been noted that a huge percent of "pit bull" attacks are really attacks by one of the twenty something breeds mistaken for them. I lived at an apartment complex that outlawed pit bulls and 4 other dogs but not staffordshire terriers (to name one similar but just as harmless owned correctly)...go ahead and google the two and tell me you would know the difference...basically any dog with a square head/wide jaw is claimed as a pit...its ridiculous. so before you get on your soap box saying everywhere should ban this loving breed, do your research. there are many kinds of dogs who should be "banned" by your standards and reasoning. i vote we start banning idiots from this...

It's easier to ban aggressive dog breeds than aggressive people... People fight against what they have a chance of winning.

I think pits and pit mixes should be sent out of shelters in poor neighborhoods or just put down instead of being allowed to be adopted in poor neighborhoods. Sorry, but people in those living conditions are more likely to be in gangs and glorify having a fighting dog with which to walk or loiter. We can't let owning a dog like that be cheap for them.

I wish some legislators would be brave enough to take a stand on this issue. Banning the breeding of this breed may be a bit extreme in the US, but thoughts similar to it would be a step in the right direction.

Not everyone in poor neighborhoods are looking to be glorified by having a pitbull! So just kill innocent animals because there are some that were raised by horrible owners? WTF?

I worked as a groomer and got bit by cocker spaniels the most. Then second in line was peekanese-poodle mixs. They are nothing but teeth with fur. I never had a problem with pits, dobes, or rotties. I think it has alot to do with the owners.

they are not born dangerous. their owners are. I have always had german shepherds and they are the best, but more unpredictable than the 2 pitts I have now. Mt 2 pitts are totally loving to peopke and other dogs.

THE 2 PITTS I HAVE NOW ARE THE MOST LOVING DOGS I HAVE HAD. I ALWAYS OWNED GERMAN SHEPHERDS AND THEY WERE FANTASTIC, BUT MORE PROTECTIVE AND UNPREDICTABLE THAN MY PITTS. PITTS ARE NOT BORN DANGEROUS. THEY REQUIRE LOVE AND A GENTLING LIKE ANT ANIMAL. I FEAR THE OWNERS ARE MORE DANGEROUS.

It is so good to hear more good storys from people with pitts. I am tired of feeling out numbered, aren't you guys? There are 2 states that have banned them?? I too have always owned german shepards and still love the breed. We had to watch them like hawks all the time though, they are very aggressive and protective. My pitt that I have now is the most loving & needy dog I have ever owned. My daughter has two and they are the same way. People have got to start to realize pitts are good dogs if raised right & not neglected. Pitts actually thrive on human contact, they will sit & lay on you like one of the family. Pitts are aggressive by nature towards animals but mine was raised around cats & dogs and I haven't had any problems with her. Pitts are very smart, well trained, and loyal loving dogs. Another plus, they don't shed hair all over the place. Ban the breed? How about strick laws & jail time for the insane idiots that raise any dog to attack. What the hell is wrong with people today???? Ban taxes, or high price health insurance, high rising medical costs, but animals??
