BRIDGEPORT -- A man died Wednesday night after he was shot in the chest outside of the Trumbull Gardens apartments, police said.

The man, whose age and identity were not immediately available, was taken to Bridgeport Hospital and pronounced dead there.

It is the city's ninth homicide of 2012.

The shooting happened around 11:15 p.m., and the victim was found outside Building 10, witnesses said. They said the shooter fled in a Dodge sedan with two other men.

Police said another gunshot victim drove himself to St. Vincent's Medical Center. That victim suffered serious injuries, police said.

It was too early to tell if the shootings are connected, police said.

Trumbull Gardens is a multi-building public housing project located at 505 Trumbull Ave., off Reservoir Avenue in the city's North End.

Earlier Wednesday, police responded to three incidents of shots fired with no victims hit. One was on Iranistan Avenue around 1:45 p.m. near where shots had been fired about 14 hours earlier.

Tuesday night police arrested a man they say was responsible for that gunfire.

Around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday police responded to two separate shots-fired calls, one on East Main Street and the other at Charles and Main streets.

The last homicide in Bridgeport was on March 30. That day Robert Moales and Anthony Smith became the city's seventh and eighth homicide victims in two separate shootings.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Aquarius

If you're a typical Aquarian you're often quite idealistic and today is no exception. You're wandering around on cloud nine, especially if you're thinking about a very special someone, and indulging in all sorts of deliciously romantic daydreams. Reality? You've no time for it right now, because it will intrude too much on your fantasies.
