Addiction

I so funny... Tuscarawas County has started more programs for Substance abuse. Are they really doing there job?? NO! When one needs help and wants help, you can't get it. I recently went to Community Mental health to try to enter a detox for Heroin withdrawls until I could get into a treatment. They told me I was not sick enough even though I was throwing up on myself. I wanted help but was unable to get it. So I had to travel out of state to recieve help. It's very discouraging when you drive all over the place looking for a good treatment and can't find it. Something needs to be done. There is so much talk about the drug problems in Tuscarawas county but yet they don't offer help! Just AA and NA meeting and IOP... Fear based programs! Why not a happiness based program like the one Im at right now? Addiction IS NOT a disease! It's a contious choice! We are not powerless... If AA works for you then great! But know this... You made a choice for it to work for you... You wanted it to work... Therefore you are powerful! Addiction is treated as a disease for the purpose of insurance. It's funny that this is the ONLY "disease" cured by God himself! A disease is cancer, diabeties, HIV, etc... You can't wake up one day and say hmm I think Ill just have a little cancer today... But tomorrow Ill have none at all. The man who claimed that addiction is a disease back in the 1930's was found uncreditable... He lied about his education! Yet people still follow this concept! It's an excuse!!! An excuse to continue into self pity and and excuse to use! There is no shortcut to lasting happiness!!! A great program is www.soberforever.org This is not AA or NA based. It's CHOICES!!! HAPPINESS! NOT A DISEASE! Non profit place. It's a research Co. 68% sucess rate. It's funny that AA will not realease statistics because they are anonymous. The last release were from the 1980's and the sucess rate was ONLY 5%. The funny thing is that people who quit all by themselfs was also 5%. hmmmm..... The community needs to come together and help thoes who have a desire to quit drinking and drugging. We also need to present this alternative program to AA. Sobriety is not a process... It's an event!

Yes as a matter of fact I have. I was on the program for about 1.5 yrs.... Its a bandaid. It doesnt fix the problem... It prolongs it. Besides it does have street value. And a common thing to do is substitute when you can or cant get dope. I used suboxone for detoxing also several times. you also experience withdrawls from it. The secret to stopping drugs is to JUST QUIT. It is that simple. However, the hard part is the withdrawls.... I agree with suboxone for short term detox for the pain.

Everything has street value when sold to the right person. Its all about what works for yourself,It sounds like you are out to promote the treatment center of your choice.

NO, I am not out to promote anything. I am giving another option besides the fear, religious, diseased based bull that people think is there only choice.

Sounds Like you don't have an open mind. There are other options out there that people need to know about.

My point in writing my first statement was to make people realize that Tuscarawas county needs to do something more to help thoes who need it or want it. And to show that there is an alternative to AA and NA. Take it for what is is.

How will T-County pay for all of this? I am sure taxpayers are not willing to help those that unfortunately people in our community views as "unworthy". I do not agree with this, but this is what ppl. think. People aren't willing to vote for levies to help kids all have text books in school...they will not pay for drug treatment facilities.
