Stop Loud Harley's

I know a few Harley riders. One of them for sure does not have those stupid loud pipes. I'm not sure about the other two.

However the ridiculous comment that loud pipes save lives - It's your own worthless life that you are worried about. We are not worried about your life since you are terrorizing us with your needless noise. And yes, when we car drivers are on the road our windows are rolled up and air conditioners on. We don't hear you unless you're within death's distance (like within a carlength) from us. So it's all BS about saving lives.

You don't see BMW, Ducatti, Honda, Kawasaki motorbikes souped up to be louder then ten freight trains. I guess only Harley Davidson a$$clowns with the loud pipes think they save lives. You are egotistical terrorists who want everyone to notice you and nothing more. Oh yeah, everyone does notice you. They are the ones flipping you off.

The needless booming is ridiculous. The booming effects people on so many levels and it's usually not positive, especially if it is forced upon us. There's a place for that kind of loudness; like in the clubs or large designated areas for such noise, but to have to hear it in neighborhoods or apartment areas etc. it is absurd and should be against the law and as citizens we should be allowed to make a citizens arrest on folk who boom their speakers of which are really screaming that they are lifeless, womenless, worthless losers who want to disrespect the world in compensation for their plight due to their own laziness. What baffles me further is how often it's usually silly white men who are trying to be down with ethnic folk by playing their bass so loud when we all really know that they would be somebody's girl in the ghetto or in prison taking it up the booty and quite possibly being turned out in the process. I'm so glad I have found other people who also realize the how stupid these people are and are encouraging a stop to the wannabe gangsta generation of posers and never gonnabees. I could go on and on but I'm definately desiring and am willing to do whatever is necessary o put a stop to the needless noise and booming coming out of people's vehicles & yes that includes that of some of those loud harley davidson motorcycles and the like. What a warped way to show machismo these days. These people don't want to show how tough they are through hard work and focus but would rahter show it through laziness and loud noise. Count me in on the anti-noise, anti-boom, anti-punk wimp movement too. Lets do this thing and shut them sorry excuses for life down.

I think most of you are missing the root of the problem, and that is lack of respect.

These people with loud bikes are either trying to piss you off, or let you see how super fricking' cool they are. Remember that fat nerdy kid you picked on in school? He's back, and he's got a hog!

I actually own two Harleys, one with aftermarket mufflers (not too loud) and one with drag pipes (no mufflers, "straight pipes"). i will admit, the drag pipes can be extremely loud, WHEN I WANT THEM TO BE! I leave for work at 5am some mornings, and i have never had ONE complaint about my bike waking a neighbor. If you lug the engine a bit and keep the
RPMs low, its hardly any louder than my bike with mufflers. I save the loud stuff for the wide open spaces of eastern SD.

So the next time some prick on a loud Harley pissed you off, realize he's accomplished two things:
A. you noticed him
B. he pissed you off

He obviously had low self esteem, and no RESPECT! Not for you, not for anyone.

The most effective thing you can do is contact your elected official about getting local ordinances in place and the police to enforce them. There are federal regulations that are designed to be adopted by cities and states specifically to regulate noise pollution from motorcycles. This is called the EPA Label Match Up program, and it is explained at www.noiseoff.org .
Most Harley's have exhaust systems installed that are already illegal by local, state and federal regulations. Laws are often weak (requiring the use of a decibel reader for example) and police often don't take the issue seriously until people speak up.
The same modifications that people make to create more noise, cause each motorcycle to emit more air pollution than 80 normal automobiles.
Harleys and other motorcycles are manufactured to be about as loud as a normal automobile per long standing federal regulations. Irresponsible businesses and owners install illegal mufflers, such as the Harley dealership near me which advertises - Maybe you just want that awesome earth-quaking, window-rattling exhaust that sets off car alarms as you ride on by. Want to make men dive out of the way and women grab their children and head inside and lock the doors? We can help with that too!

try leaving your 400$ leather sitting on your car, or your belongings sitting unattended i bet it wont stay there long! I see it all the time with the kind of people i ride with and nobody ever touches it. there is a kind of trust among bikers that you can't find anymore. we take care of our own.

you should be more worried about the god damn illegal immigration comming into this country, taking our (and your) freedom away! or maybe that fucking idiot on the cellphone with three kids in the car driving in rushour traffic. try spending some time with your local harley organazation and see what they do, the money they raise, the charitys they donate to ect... everyone has the right to customize there homes, cars, wardrobe and there bikes, wether or not it's loud pipes or 25 inch wheels, stupid paint on your house or some fatass woman trying to fit into clothing she shouldnt even be thinking about fitting into.

we all do things that make a statement and if harley owners want loud pipes, so be it. I dont think that 3 or 4 seconds that you hear it will change your life for the worst. if you dont like us or our woman, dont fucking look at us. I'm sure we wont give you a second thought. It's people like you that are taking our(your's too) freedom away in this country. stop worrying about the little things and focus on the big things if you really want to make a change for the better.
