I was born in 1934 in Sleetmute on the Kuskokwim River, the daughter of Nick Mellick of Montenegro and my mother, Katherine, a Yup'ik from Nogamut near Sleetmute.

Thank you for sharing your experences , it has given me greater insight to just how hardy the people of alaska are and had to be . It also taught me about alaka imagration in a way I could have never known . Your father never foregot about his family here or the ones left behind , he sounds like a man amoungst men !!!

I would like to to get in contact with Mellick (Mihaljevic)family. They are my cousins. I know quite a lot about Montenegrin part of fanily. In fact I have picture of the village called Gluhi Do, near Scadar Lake. Your father Nikola was good man - he was from a very respected Montenegrin clan. There is saying in Montenegro "You are clever like Mihaljevic".

I hope that this message will reach Mellick family and it would be wonderfull to be in contact. Unfortunately most of elders in our clan have passed away, however, my mother knows quite a lot.My e mail address is:
