Stat Smith In Woburn Court

Breaking News... Channel 7 ...6 pm Thursday: A former tenant of Rep. Stat Smith is seeking a restraining order against Stat Smith calling him a threat to his family. He described Mr. Smith as "a Dr. Jeckyl-Mr. Hide". The court case will continue on Friday, and channel 7 will cover the story. Remember all people are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

An Everett couple is seeking a restraining order against a state lawmaker.

A parking spot on a dead end street is at the heart of the dispute.

Michael and Sue Phillips say State Representative Stephen Smith barged into their house last week.

"He swung open the door, said I don't want you parking your car blocking my tenants. My car was parked in front of my house," said Sue Phillips. "He goes, if I ever catch that there, I'll tow it and I'll come after you and you know I can."

Asked what she thought that meant, Phillips said, "It meant like, he's a state rep."

Michael Phillips said, "He threatened my wife, he came into my house, and he was uninvited. Something has to be done."

Then Phillips went to Middlesex Superior Court to request a restraining order against Smith -- their former landlord who owns the building next door.

Speaking before a judge, Smith said he did nothing wrong.

He said he noticed the Phillips' car parked in a way that blocked his tenant in the adjacent building.

He said he rang the Phillips' doorbell, heard Sue Phillips say "come in" and then asked her to remind her husband not to park that way.

Sue Phillips said she is afraid of Smith.

Smith declined an interview with WBZ, saying he said all he has to say on the matter in court.

The judge hasn't decided if she'll grant the restraining order.

Third time Stat had HAD TO APPEAR in court. Fleeing the scene of an accident. Threatening Wayne Matewsky. Threatening a married couple after "pushing his way" into their home. ALL CRIMINALS say they were set up ....they call it "framed"... Stat has a criminal record no matter what you call it.

The alley between griswold and clarence st belongs to smith. He bought it and made it part of his property over 20 years ago.

OMG, you people have nothing better to do then trash Stat Smith, if nothing else peep this, Stat Smith has done more for Everett than anyone, you f4eaks should be lucky to have him. I rest my case.

Stat is trashing himself.......this is the third time Stat has been called to the courthouse to answer charges. The first "hit and run". The second threatening Wayne Matewsky. The third threatening Mrs. Phillips. No one is "DOING THIS TO HIM"

Threateing Wayne Matewsky? Are you kidding me? That was during the election and Wayne did it for show, pure and simple. He ran to the court like the b***h he is.

Wayne filed a complaint in Malden District Court about Stat threatening him last year . Happened about a year ago.

all he did was ask them to move there car.

No CORI report, restraining orders...yep the kind of guy I want around kids.

Did Stat go to court today - if so, what was the outcome ? I didn't see anything on the 6 PM news..

I didn't hear, but I'm sure the Advocate will give us a full report next week.

If Phillips was parked correctly, this wouldn't even be an issue. Any one of us would be ticked off if someone was blocking our driveways or parked like a jerk to make it difficult. I'm sure the Phillips parked like a jerk on purpose, and the wife's fake tears in court was just laughable.
