1 Lee Aside from some people finding it creepy. It "will" bring down property value. And in this economy that's not a good thing. They need to buy property out in the country. Its cheaper ,a better setting ,and its away from people. I hope you win your fight. |

1 Allen Your right. I haven't seen any racial comments. Just people who chose to live where they do partially because of the very rules that some are trying to void right now. There are so many great reasons to move this out to the country ,to a less populated area. If these guys are worried about their neighbors having feelings about them that aren't very nice they may want to just abide by the rules that attracted people to the area and change course. After looking at this its nuts to hurt everyone in the area because this mosque wants a cemetery in a certain place. There will be very bad feelings and even damage done if they succeed. Again just my 2 cents. |

1 Interesting to note that one of the pieces of land being acquired, subject to the rezoning, belongs to the CITY MAYOR. This is a clear conflict of interest, well a conflict of interest for the public and the neighbors. City officials should not be able to profit from rezoning. |

1 Also, note that there is some racial issues involved since the telivision has reported some of the neighbours as saying that we don't like Muslims. I feel it will be a great addition to the city of LIlburn where not only the city will have some beautiful church buliding, an extrvagant Hindu temple and now a mosque. This is where the cultures and religions can meet. This is what America is all about. Check out why immigrants moved to this land in the biginning. |

1 I did not say the cemetary was creepy. I am worried about possible health concerns. Ditto on the water retention pond. And noise and safety concerns on the outdoor sports area. And, of course, the pending personal profit of the city Mayor who would profit from this change in the zoning. There is land already zoned for this in the county. We'd prefer they use land in accordance with the current zoning. If they need a Muslim cemeterary, which is COMPLETELY understandable, they need to have land that is already zoned for that. And yes, I understand completely why immigrants moved to this land. Unless you're a Native American, then we're ALL the family of prior immigrants to this land. |

1 As for call for the prayers (ADHAN, on one resident of this neighbourhood can claim that they heard it even once in last 11 years. It is done within the prayer hall. As for the issue raised about the water retaintion, I am sure that the city of Lilburn has its rule and regulations in place and the mosque will also have to follow the same. Thus this is also out of the context as an objection. Finally, as far as the cemetary is concern I do not see any thing creepy about it. The mosque management is ready to leave enough easement so that the neighbourhood is not disturbed with any activities in the cemetary. Furthermore, I do not think there is any other place quiter than the cemetary. This take us to the issue of Mayor making huge profit from the sale of property. I believe the deal is already made for the property as is and not as it will be if rezoned. And like I wrote there are only few who would make religion an issue. |

1 I feel if this Mosque wants to expand, and has the money to purchase adjoining residential land; they also have the benefit of looking elsewhere where rezoning will not be an issue. I do not care what sort of church is requesting expanding - catholic, protestant, muslim... I choose to deny this rezoning at this location! It's a free country: residents have a right to voice their opinions and be heard (we are placed in a defensive position, not by choice.)- AND - churches of any denomination can expand and build wherever the law permits. It's unfortunate that a Lilburn city official may be in a position to profit, personally, from adjoining property sale and rezoning. In the end, I pray that those officials we entrusted to make the ultimate rezoning decision will use discretion and wisdom in a fair and just manner that is best for the city and the future of those whom have chosen to live here - not on greed, corruption, religious bias or the media. |

dont get me wrong but i dont think we should build it there. just location is all that needs to change this is really close to old town lilburn and lilburn i a great cute little town. religion should have nothing to do with this. this is about lilburn remaning to be OLD town lilburn. there are not that many places like that and we want to be able to give our children a peice of our past. those homes and land has been there since before we were born. that section of hwy 29 is allready crowded enough, now building onto your stucture that you already have there is nothing wrong with that. and i think we shouldnt have to take all this to court. what ever happened to the peace that the world once knew. with land and trees and grass. people in new york dont even know what grass is... lol but im just saying its part of keeping lilburn little. its cozy and comfy. i am not scared if i hav eto walk to chickfula. lets not change that please

1 1. The Mayor's land = perceived corruption. 2. This is right on the heels of Ft. Hood. 3. We are at war with radical Islam and nobody likes you. Get over it. |
