BLACK MOON "Twins"cakes

does anyone out there remember the Twin black moons made in the 60's....they were made in Stoddard NH ....man.... I have never to this day tasted one as good as those!!! wish I had that recipe..mmmmm anyone remember them???

Yes!! I grew up in the Lowell, MA area and they were my favorite snack. Two came in a little white box with cellophane wrapped around them. I've been looking for them for years. There is a new bakery in Dracut, Ma that sells blackmoons that taste just like them. It is located on Merrimack Ave (The Boulevard) near the river. They also make them with different fillings like coffee, peanutbutter, etc. They are delicious!

I have been searching for a very long time to find the recipe for these TWIN cake moon pies. I also grew up in Lowell and had them for in my school lunch everyday. What is the name of the bakery in Dracut? They really taste as good? Thank you

Oh my goodness....I remember these black moons. TWINS are what they were called. I lived in

Lowell and bought them at a corner store called Jerrys. I wish they still sold them because my teen aged sons would love them. I do have a recipe but not even close to tasting like the Twins. If I could only get my hands on that recipe I would be delighted. Any suggestions form anyone? Thank you!!

Wicked Whoopie Pies are deliciously habit-forming and there are at least ten smiles in each Wicked Whoopie Pie. Next time you're in Maine, stop by one of our bake shops and say hello. We are located at 5 Mechanic Street in Gardiner, Maine and at 621 Maine Avenue in Farmingdale, Maine. They are the are close as I come to black moons I had in Lowell. You can ordered them mail order at their website Wicked Whoopies.

Wicked whoopies are good but the cake part is more like sponge cake than the 'twins' blackmoons. Twins had a denser cake and the cream filling wasn't as sugary. It was more creamy. I've been lookin for them for years too! I grew up in Chelmsford and they were my favorite snack.

These blackmoons were made by Stoddard's Bakery located on Mammoth Rd in Lowell. When the owners retired they retired the recipe and they were never to be found locally again. My father would purchase them for us right from the bakery in mid-morning when they were still warm. A few of us locals have a recipe very similar but hesitate to give it away. I will say, the frosting is made with Fluff, confectionary sugar and Crisco. The cake is made with cocoa. I'd be surprised to ever find anything close to these delicious treasures!

Yeah, I grew up on Queen Street. I remember the Stoddard Bakery on Mammoth Road in Pawtucketville. Oh my God! Boy, am I old or what. Those were delicious.

I'm from Lowell MA. God, I remember all the stores around there. Remember Guilbeaults Package Store? Hannigans Variety? Louise's? Korner Kitchen on Westford Street? My, how time flies! Joyce.

My grandfather, Clayton B. Stoddard started in the bakery business in Lowell in the 1890's. My mother was a Stoddard, and I used to work in the bakery and lived upstairs above it. It is so nice to see that so many people have fond memories of the "Twins" but do you also remember the square pies and the fig and raspberry squares?

I loved those twins the most. My dad brings back to Ca. the fig squares and my sister has a recipe for the black moons. Not as good as the twins but sill real good. The new oreo cakester remind me of the twins that is what brought me to look on the internet and here i am.

Your a very lucky person.Black Moons were a big part of my growing up. Every day I had to have a pack of them. By any chance do you know if the recipe will ever be out.

there back at the same building the bakery was starting 9/23/08 no lie go see then right across from the park

The name of the restaurant is Parkside roastbeef and more on mammoth rd, this is where stoddards bakery's started and this restaurant now carries blackmoon's homemade by Eff. Come on by and try the roastbeef no need to drive to Revere anymore.

I use to work at the Korner Kitchen in Dracut, it was owned by the same people that owned the Westford St and up at the Lake

I LOVED those "Black Moons" as a kid. I have tried several Whoopie Pie Recipes and they have never come close to the original Stoddard's Bakery twins. I grew up in Centerville and would buy them at Houle's Variety at the corner of West 6th Street & Boisvert Street. John S. from Boston, "Will you share the recipe with us?" PLEASE.

I cant believe this we have a family member who worked there and I have the original recipe and was thinking about putting it up on my Bonanzle Web Site this week . Hello fellow lovers of the "Twins" I thought I was alone!!!! I was very excited to see all the posting ...we need to bring these black moons back

ROSELADY I don't know how to find your website for the recipe please help I want to make them as soon as possible.then post my results hehehe...mmmm yummmy.I just can't wait to taste them again.....

now does anyone remember the lipstick candy..not the taffy kind it had a gold wrapper (I think) and the candy was SOFT ohhh it had an awesome taste?
