Anyone know what they are building on the site of the old K&Q's? Brand new building going up with a drive thru. Looks like a food place.

How about the name of the 2 streets so we know WTF your talking about.

They are building a Bank or some type or savings and loan , there was a sign up a while back. Rico - Chill why don't you , Kings and Queens was one of the most succesfull Berwyn Hot Dog stands back in the 80's and into the 90's , location is across from the Oak Park Jewel/Osco think that is Wenonah Ave. BTW K&Q became Nicky's for a few years and then closed up. I used to go to Red Top on East and 26th street for many years for s Hot Dog and fries or even a BItalian Beef , also Novi's Beef , and don't forget Pete's on Ridgeland and Roosevelt Rd. |

If you don't know where K&Q is then your either 10 years old or your not from around these parts.
10 yrs old sounds about right for Rico .....LOL |

K & Q was okay. Pretty big menu as I recall.
As far as the standard stuff went both Lucky Dog at 16th & Harlem and Pete's at Roosevelt & Ridgeland were better than K & Q. Parky's was WAY over-rated on the other hand. |
LUCKY DOG on Roosevelt is better that the one Harlem. Hot Dogs taste waaay better! |
What about the hot dog stand in Cermack Plaza?
Is it the Dog Wagon or Dog Kennel? |
K&Q had a huge menu - as for eating at either Lucky Dog locations I'd rather lick the bathroom floors at wrigley field on a hot july double header than eat there. Parkys French Fry's are awsome and if i ever leave this ONCE lovely town I'd come back just to eat Parkys fry's.( yes I know they are located in Forest Park Harlem and Madison )

When an old established fast food place like a hot dog stand fails it sometimes can be traced to "change of ownership".
Successful joints like Gene & Judes on River Road, Polk and Western in Chicago, Henry's on Ogden in Cicero maintain the same menu items and quality. The first step of failure is when the menu begins to change and too many items are added. They laughed at Ray Kroc (founder of MacDonalds) when he said he would open a restaurant specializing in hamburgers. Most any diner served hamburgers at that time. It also takes more than a sixty hour work week to own and operate a "Hot Dog stand". Many new owners find this out the hard way. Then the product suffers and quality is reduced. |

Lucky Dog on Roosevelt is the best. There food is so delicious!! I get my moneys worth. Parky's is mediocre. |

Kings & Queens on Roosevelt Rd in Berwyn, Il had the Very Best Gyros Sandwiches during the Mid 1980's. They far surpassed anyone with their Gyros.$3.80 for a sandwich if I remember correctly 1984 or so.. Nobody has matched them yet! I sure miss them!

All gyros seem to taste alike.
