I think your last name would start with a "C" and end with a "y" right?

I keep an eye on this site once in awhile.. We need to get the word out more about this site to people located in communities throughout Marinette County.

Oh Crivitz, you are so cynical. The site is called "Topix", and this is my topic!

If you didn't care, you didn't need to respond.:)

And, by the way, I do have an aunt and uncle who live in Crivitz too.

Well, Big Eagle, since I don't live in Marinette County, that job falls on you. And no, my last name isn't Colloquy. My last name wouldn't even give you a hint as to who my relatives are.

I just thought it would be fun to start something since I just joined Topix and I noticed there were no comments on any stories on the Wausaukee site. Thanx for responding!

Okay Colloguy, here is one for you...what do you think about the newly proposed upscale condo's/apartments that developers have proposed in the village of Wausaukee? How about the TIF District idea that is being talked about?

Well Big Eagle, I hardly know where to start except that my name is ColloQuy :)

Ok, about the condo's/apartments in the village. I haven't been to Wausaukee in 6 years, but I remember when duplexes were built right off of Main Street and 180. Those duplexes were rented before they were done, and there was never a problem renting after old tenants moved out. Most of the houses in Wausaukee are old and in disrepair. Lets face it...it's an old town, with old town charm, and not many upscale jobs. It's mostly farmers and small businesses. People aren't making mega bucks, and as the story says, people "aren't pounding on our doors saying they want to bring in or build a business".

I don't know where in the village the apt/townhouses would be, but I feel that the village needs new growth, new housing. Not everyone can afford to buy/build a house. And then, as they say, people in the village would shop in the village. Maybe more business would come in.

And as to the TIF, you need that to spur new growth. I was reading Wausaukee's history page about a month ago, and during it's hayday just after it was settled, there were more people living in Wausaukee then then there is now. People are moving out of Wausaukee for better jobs and better housing. We have TIF districts where I live to bring in business, and we are growing rapidly. More businesses in town means more tax dollars for the city.

Don't get me wrong, I love Wausaukee. I wish it could stay the way I remember it. I have been going there since I was a small child, and only have the fondest memories of it. I wish it could stay the same, but for the people who live there, it needs to be better.

Thank you for asking me that. And of course since I don't live there, this is only my opinion. Now what is your opinion?

I am glad you had the chance to visit our wausaukee.com history page. The site was developed to promote our School District Towns & Villages because if you don't put information out there the community at large will not thrive. Promoting our area is the only way we can boost interest in this area for tourism which brings a large chunk of cash to the businesses in the area.

The Tiff district for the Condo project is very much needed since this community is in desperate need of additional housing and more people to help spread the financial pain of water/sewer, school taxes and other infrastructure costs. We continue to add jobs for manufacturing but where do these people go to live? New housing would add value and bring more upscale growth to our community. Our community cannot afford to decrease in population like it has in the past if businesses want to grow.

The collapse of the old school which is a blight on our community is another sore point. It should not be up to the community to fix something that the land owner is responsible for. This property should never have been purchased by someone who had no desire to repair or remodel a building of this age and size. Now we have a dangerous building with all matter of hazards in the middle of our community with the land owner trying to get out of his responsiblity to correct and clean up his property.

Do any of them live Nedjelo rd ? I think our school needs to get back to the simple things if we want people not to leave here. That means have shop classes again the students need to learn the trades if they want jobs in this town and county. If they go on to higher schools they will be gone to the big city to live, work and at best come back to see how bad it is where they left. That does not help the job or production market of Wausaukee. Yes we need more good places to reny There are places now but would you or I live there? Not if there was better.

Yes, Jerry is my uncle. If the Jerry you are talking about is Jerry Figas, that is. He is one of the many relatives I have up there.

What do you mean 'she just left'? Did you mean 'she just let'?

If you know him enough to talk to him, you should tell him to come on here. And who are you BTW? I also have an uncle in Crivitz. Tony. I haven't been up there since 2002 when my Grandma died. But I hear there may be a family function that we are supposed to go to up there this year. It will be nice to go back there. Soooooo different, laid back from the city.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Aquarius

This is a good day for getting on with chores and mundane tasks. You'd much rather get them out of the way than have them hanging over you for any longer than necessary. What's more, you don't want to waste your time by doing things in the wrong order or by being so slapdash that you have to do something a second time. You're setting a terrific example right now!
