Mayor, no Village hall, some? Yes, there have been trustee's. Sorry I did not mention that. Betsy Honea is one that I know was there. I have to admit I dont know people by face, but I know there have been other ones as well. Oh wait sorry Trustee Peterson has expresed interest. I just wish I could say the mayor supports us. And as most of us know, if the mayor dont like it.... Well most people know. I will not let that stop me.

The last thing we want is for Neighborhood Watch meetings/program to turn political. The meetings are not the time or place for these discussions. For the trustees who have been to the meeting and support us, we thank you. I can't believe how people can be so rude or look into things so in depth. The watch program was started for Steger to become a safer community and FOR NO OTHER REASON! Crystal Wilson Co-Coordinator for NW

Well most people know. why not send the mayor a personal invitation thru the mayor. and see what happens. and there is a new paper coming to town... why not ask the owner to have a reporter do an interview with the mayor and business owners about their feelings on the neighborhood watch.

I do like your idea about the new paper. I will ask. Now I walked up to the Mayor in person at the Village Hall(after having a meeting with the police dept) and thats when he respond that way. I have thought about going to a board meeting and trying to talk that way. I just need to come up with a sitter for my kids.

The Mayor doesn't need the watch because he moved to a secluded part of time quite a few years back. If the mayor ever tries to squash this then would be the time to bring in the the news and I don't mean the local papers. I'm sure that one of the major Chicago stations would investigate why the Mayor wouldn't want all the help he could have for FREE to help keep make this town safer. I truely hope that people keep showing up. I don't think many of the people at the first meeting showed up for the long haul, they just wanted to hear or see what was being done about the peeping tom case. I'll be curious to see how many show up at the next meeting. As for anyone criticizing the two ladies running this... if you don't like how they are doing things or what they are doing then volunteer to help them.

Hey Enough Already if you're not going to be productive why don't you stfu? I have a life but I want to make sure that my kids have a safe place to live like I did when I was a kid. How is that wanting to create more drama?
I'm sure that the crime rate per capita in Steger is not as bad as some towns but if the people of the community don't care then a small thing can easily lead to a large one.
I'm sure you could take your own advice and find something better to do than coming on here and trying to create drama that isn't here.

I wont to remind everyone of the Neighborhood Watch Program meeting Dec 1st. Please come out and share your idea's on how to make steger safer. Its time for us residents to take our town back. Also Neighborhood watch does not condone vigilante justice. We need to take our town back the right way the legal way or we become crimanls ourselves.

You can also respond back at stegerwatch@hotmail.com. This actually goes for anyone on here that is interested, if you get us your email or mail address we will get current info out to you.
