Why is it that everyone thinks we ( U.S.A.) should change our ways and adapt to other countries ideas , such as the metric system (I refuse to buy anything metric) or my biggest pet peeve - "American" citizens that can't (won't) speak ENGLISH ! I think it should be MANDITORY that you know how to speak basic english if you want to be an U.S. citizen . I would not move to Japan or Russia or MEXICO without knowing how to communicate with people of those countries and cultures in their language so why do all of these people think they can move HERE and have us conform to THEM ? My ancestors came here from Germany but once they got here they learned and spoke ENGLISH . Our Police and Firemen should'nt have to learn spanish if they are doing their jobs here in U.S.A. where we speak English ! Our president said that he wants Americans to become bi-lingual and speak spanish , that is WRONG ! We already have a hard enough time teaching kids to speak English today , if you can stand to watch any shows on tv geared towards teens and young adults such as MTV you will know what I mean . They can barely talk clearly enough to understand whats being said ! U.S.A.= ENGLISH

I grew up in SG, I currently reside in Florida. I totally agree with you. I am completely fed up with people that refuse to assimilate. What is that about?
When my ancestors moved to SG, they learned English very quickly in order to get ahead. That no longer seems to be the norm. There is actually quite a bit of hostility down here if one does not "habla espanol".
I cant wait to move back to the midwest, its still America there, for crying out loud!

hey kshe95girl , have you experianced any issues with getting a job down in Florida being from Missouri ? I have been trying to get a job in Valdosta Georgia for almost a year now and even had interveiws with two places but I get the "your a Yankee" comments and attitude and was wondering if thats how it is all over down there or just in that little s**t hole . I guess I should have worn a rebel flag hat into the interveiws or something!

Citizen, you have NO idea!!!!!!!!
I have been here for 20 years. I get the freaking Yankee thing all the time. I try to tactfully point out the diff between the Midwest and Yankeedom, but the knucklehead good ole boys that are in charge down here dont get it! At least I work for myself, I really have NO idea how folks from other places get along here.
Valdosta is a s**hole, btw, you would be better served to try to get a job up there, the economy here has collapsed, I am looking at buying property in SG County and coming home, its just ashes here, ya know?
