I am a Native Albuquerquean. I have lived in TX for the last 10 yrs. Every time I see a NM license plate, I will follow it and hurry to catch up, just so I can wave and say hi! My friends think I'm nuts (including the people I am following). But that's ok, because I know why I do it. It's because of the "Community" spirit that has always been in ABQ. I sensed it when I lived in ABQ and am happy to see that it is still strong. I will continue to follow NM license plates (hope I don't get arrested for stalking!)

There is more than meets the eye! This is Joseph's father and I will explain. What the news cast did not show was the conversation between Michael and us where he told us of how he was losing hope and prayed to God for inspiration the night before. In my house we bow to Jesus Christ as Our Lord and Savior. Joseph, although just 9, is a very mature Christian with a heart to serve others. It is a simple matter of an Almighty Creator of the Universe orchestrating the answer to a prayer. That's it, nothing more!

God has brought Michael through two types of cancer and through a merciless beating, some people just don't get it, you can not fight agaisnt God.

I don't know, my situation parallels that of Michael. Joseph is indeed a diamond of a human being. I don''t know, though, if my pride would allow me to accept money form a 9 year old boy, much less have cameras filming the whole episode.

i feel for you and hope the best . keep your head high and your heart free, to all who may have seen me last march walking on the highway i walked all the way from ruidoso to santa fe on the walk of injustice to bring awareness to the people and to raise money to help with the investigation into the death and robbery of my son. when i got to the governor's office 12 days after i left ruidoso i was escorted out under false pretense by the state police. god bless all of you who have helped.i will never give up and i will walk again in march of 2010 i live in ruidoso and i love my state and country but we need justice and accountability.

I am Joseph's dad. By Michael accepting Joseph's gift he has allowed Joseph to experience the greatness of giving. Joseph is blessed by his decision to help and his new friendship with Michael. By Michael accepting Joseph's gift he has encouraged young children everywhere to do the same.
This isn't a matter of pride, but of God meeting a need. What if David had not stepped up to fight the giant Goliath? These battles we often fight are spiritual warfare. God has proved his will through children before and He will do it again. Our battles belong in the hands of a Mighty God. Israel was spared that day because a child, David, rose up to fight the giant that no one else would stand against out of fear and the pride of being defeated. Michael did the right thing to accept my sons faith-filled effort!

God Bless you both, and there is a lesson in this compassion and character of giving. Jacob is very lucky to have such a father teaching and guiding...many are not so lucky growing up - from 6 to 13 I did not have a dad so these formative years are important. I was lucky to have a loving step-father who filled the role!
