"MANDATORY SERVICE" BILL H.R.5741 HAS NOW GONE BEFORE THE COMITTEE
H.R. 5741, The Universal National Service Act
H.R. 5741 would require all persons in the United States between the ages of 18 and 42 to perform national service, either as a member of the uniformed services or in civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, to authorize the induction of persons in the uniformed services during wartime to meet end-strength requirements of the uniformed services.
Status of the Legislation
Latest Major Action: 7/15/2010: Referred to House committee. Status: Referred to the House Committee on Armed Services.
Barely a year after introducing H.R. 1444, which was supposed to form a “Congressional Commission on Civic Service to study methods of improving and promoting volunteerism and national service, and for other purposes”, Congress has upped the ante. Anyone between 18 and 42 will be eligible for a two year commitment of civilian or military service.
There are very few loopholes to opt of out national service, even CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS (SEC. 109) will be forced to choose the mandatory option of A. noncombatant service (as defined by the President) or B. national civilian service. It seems the congressional commission on civic service will no longer be needed thanks to the hard work of a suspected Congressional tax cheat from New York.
The slavery bill is currently in debate in the House Committee on Armed Services chaired by Rep Ike Skelton a democrat from Missouri. Those who oppose mandatory slavery should contact Rep. Skelton. Many bills die in committee and this bill should meet the same fate.

Similar to draft yes but everyone between 18-42 has to do this if it gets approved.

Very much doubt it'll pass. From what I read, this is the 3rd time the same guy has tried introducing it, just to find it going nowhere.

Obama wants it to pass so this is something to watch. They have been passsing and sneaking things in on us that we don't want so this might be passed too. I love my country but I'm not being forced to do anything. That is slavery. There are enough people who are willing to do this that is another reasonn our country is so great.

If they can't get this bill to pass the normal way, they can tack it on as a rider (which none of them ever seems to read) or Obama could even do an executive order.

You have to do this sometime in your life between ages 18-42. Whenever they tell you to pretty much. It can be at anytime.

YES. Make no mistake. It is calling up the old selective service act, and the ONLY changes are to add "or she" and substitue "the person" instead of "he".

It IS the DRAFT. Its back.

Well I served in the Military and yes I fought in a war during that time and I am very proud of it. I think that it would be good for all of you who take for granted your freedoms to go and earn some of it. It is not slavery it is called serving your country. At least every man(or boys who need to become men) should have to pull at least a two year term. Women: I don't think should have too but if woman wants and demands equal rights then that is part of it. Go and see what the other parts of the world are really like and how they really view the good ole USA and then come back and see if you actually want to band waterboarding and such. People like that are making this country weak.

That was your choice to serve and that's all fine but I'm not going to be forced to do anything. There are plenty of people who are willing to do this. Yes sir it is slavery and I refuse to be a slave for my government.

True. Most employeers are slave drivers.
