Recycling scavengers upset some residents

If more ppl would come forward especially in Oak and Richmond they wouldnt hv the problem they r having..and in here we talking about reporting "Recycle Theft"!!

I'm putting my trash out now...Come and get it. I've turned off the high tech force field so the cans and bottles will not set off the alarms and notified San Mateo Police / FBI/CIA and the military...If it helps you out...good...just dont enter property and clean up if you spill anything..

I separate my cans for those enterprising recyclers to take.

In the big scheme of what is going on in this world, a recycler taking my cans is not high on the list.

Perhaps we should all be recycling our own cans for cash to put gas in our cars?

Maybe we should thank those who clean up our "GARBAGE" in any form rather than throw it all over the streets. It seems that we only have respect for someone who cleans up after us if we pay them for it. And isn't it funny, the more we pay, the more respect we have for any service.

There is more garbage left on the streets of Burlingame by those who are shopping, dining, etc. than those "recyclers" who recycle my cans and leave no mess around my recycling bins.

At least our recyclers don't leave their condoms and diapers around on the neighborhood streets which is not the case in the downtown areas where all kinds of unglorious items have been found.

before it was mostly bums i have seen the same man and woman taKING white paper bottles and cans from downtown for 23 years isee them dumping at pier 96 everyday there kid are grown up now all night i see some stealing from big hotels 5am 1075 cal.st. on taylor all old asian woman take her bottles cans plastic to pine st. where she has someone pick up and off she goes to get more 407 taylor pick up on oferral gaurds watch while they take fron the bins they have cut off so many locks so i dont get about 10 stops a day i have friend in marin getting cardboard in garbage truck his route is about 1 hour less before 20& ton now it is 130 a ton at pier 96

Times have changed ! As a child i rember going door to door asking for empty coke bottles ( when they didn't charge redemption at check out ) Collect and turn in for the 3 cent value ( at the penny candy store ) And times were great no doubt!
Now we have unemployed, homeless, and adults doing something very similar but breaking some silly ass ordance. And the children busy with burglary, stealing cars, graffiti, drugs and so on. Times are not so great! What do you get for taking recycle items now adays, 3-5 in the folsom prison ?

first its stealing cans, then its braking into cars, then they are crawling into your back window ripping of your house. I call the cops every time I see these organized groups of illegals with truck loads of stolen recycling. this may be their way of life in mexico, but I wont allow it in my area.

As recently reported in our local newspapers, Our local garbage collector has been reported recently to having dumped up to 64,722 tons of plant materials to cover refuse at Newby Island Landfill in Milpitas the past four years.

If the people who are paid to take away our garbage are not responsible enough to do it properly, perhaps those who rummage through my recycling bins are better informed how and where to recycle correctly.

what else have they been dumping? Has EPA been notified to see if any forbiden materials been dumped ?

See what upsets me are those who say it's fair game! So you don't mind people digging through your recycling and disturbing your neighborhood? I'm sorry, but I do. It's gotten so bad on my street and I'm fed up with it. The trash thieves are actually going onto my property, the side of my house and going through my recycling. A lot of you say it's not a problem and such but what if it were your property they were trespassing on?? Would you like it then? Not to mention it's considered stealing. The bins clearly say BFI on the side.

Its tought because there getting more and more bold they even have vans that contain shopping carts. They drop off 3 or more people. Next thing you know you leave for work and this guy is in your carport smoking crack. Its not cool and I am thinking these people will get more and more desperate.
