How much $$ did Lionetti save himself by not installing the safety device?

He will spend the next 3-5 years in court deflecting blame and responsibility to some other party.

What a senseless death.

I hope in the very least the towns and cities make sure these safety device are installed in all existing pools with this drainage system.
My prayers are with the family.

"The boy told his mother earlier in the day that the drain cover was loose and she told her children to stay away from it until it was fixed, according to the affidavit."

I feel terrible for the family. But why would mom even let the kids go in the pool until something like that were fixed?

Everyone from the parents who knew there was a hazard to the pool installer to the building department who signed off on the pool should be held accountable. It is unfortuate that it happened but the pool installer isnt the only one who should be standing infront of the judge.

how come a 6 year old was in the pool without supervision? That seems odd to me.
Its sad that the boy died.

They are looking for anyone to sue?
It is tragic, but how can the pool installer be held responsible.
The parents should sue themselves because they were not watching their 6 year old in a pool by himself...thats the sad part. My kids arent allowed in the pool without supervision, and they are 12.

The town and the building inspector, should be the ones in trouble. Signing off for the CO is more negligent than the installer who may or may not have know about the safety devise

I have a real problem with this case. Why are the parents not being charged with risk of injury to a minor, child endangerment, etc. for not watching the child while he was in the pool? If he wasnt ALONE this would not of happened. The next problem is I see there was a C.O. issued for the pool. That means the building inspector made his SAFETY and CODE inspection and it PASSED according to him. He is supposed to be an authority on the subject and how did he NOT see there was a code violation? WHY isnt he being charged instead of the president of the pool company. I would say the inspector and the parents are far more culpable than the president of the pool company. Something is totally wrong here and it looks like the homeowner must have ALOT of money and is also very WELL CONNECTED in order to pull this one off.

LOL Ok Im back again. Look at this headline that the News Times has up. "affidavit says pool president knew of safety law". OK maybe he did, BUTTTTTTTTTT dont you think the TOWN BUILDING INSPECTOR KNEW THIS TOO?????????? Someone is covering up for the building inspector. The building inspector giving a C.O. transfers the liability from the contractor to the TOWN!!!!!!!! When he signs off on it that means it has passed a safety inspection and it is good to go. That means the TOWN the PARENTS and the BUILDING INSPECTOR are totally liable! NOT the pool president!
