You talk about "Semper Fi" like you actually knows what it means...YOU DON'T. Let me give you a word of advice, don't lecture a marine on the meaning of SEMPER FIDELIS. You are most likely a ****-bag know-it-all liberal who is willing to condemn; a police officer, a marine, a modern-day hero, for doing his job. "Down with the Man!!!" right hippie? p.s. I just sent your father a condom in the mail with a little note asking him not to make the same mistake twice. Interesting how you assume I'm a "liberal" simply because I believe in holding people accountable for their actions. You have no idea what my political views are. And because I disagree with you, my comments are "retarded" and "worthless"? That is very mature of you. A lame joke about my father and a condemn? Really? And MY comments are retarded? My comments were well thought out and articulated without hurling insults at you. Apparently, you are incapable of the same. I thought the Marines might have taught you better. Contrary to what you may believe, I do respect the Marines and what they do, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume you are the exception, not the norm. Have a good night, and try not to let your emotions get the better of you like they did to officer Zach.

Brainwashed - and I don't entirely blame you. All the recruits these days are fed what you've written here. And 9/11 has NOTHING to do with what happened behind that restaurant in Stamford. BTW I speak nothing of your personal service - I'm sure you've given 120%!

God bless the police wrote: come on.... enough is enough. why not write about all the good arrest he made to keep all of you who are complaing safe in your city. He not only got a permanent injury saving a woman's life from her boyfriend who was strangling her but he also had a big drug arrest which took the drugs off the street to keep you and your children safe. So please before you judge someone based on the victims comments to the media let's stop and think what you would have done if you were attacked first being a police officer. So please just stop all this stupid publicity. I'm sick of it. Nice attempt officer. But the truth is if the police were doing a good job, there would be no street crime, no motor vehicle accidents and no drugs. It is pathetic to hear how effective the police are when there are still plenty of people being killed and injured in criminal acts and MVD accidents. The police do not reduce crime, they respond to a crime AFTER it has occurred. The majority of police departments are bloated, ineffective, expense laden bureacracies that do very little if anything to prevent crime. This particular officer is a young, angry, testosterone fueled out of control ego maniac with a gun and a badge. He needs to be held to a higher standard as an officer than the public is. NO citizen needs to have their head punched when they there are other methods in which to subdue a suspect. The most disturbing aspect is that it seems the suspect was handcuffed at the time. We see these out of control cops all the time. It is a very common thing. Hiring standards need to be improved to insure a quality force.

As critical as I sometimes are of the police, on this point I just have to disagree with you. When the police are "doing a good job" they are straddling the line between law enforcement and respect for constitutional rights. To get to where there is NO street crime, NO accidents and especially NO drugs would require an environment in which anyone could be stopped and searched for any reason or no reason at all. The US system of jurisprudence is founded on the theory that it is better for a thousand guilty people to go free than to convict one innocent. We have decided, as a society, to put certain curbs on the police in order to protect that foundation. For the most part I think the police do a good job. As with others, I have encountered my share of surly attitudes and behavior that could be better, but you find that in any profession. But overall, I think they go as far as they can go to prevent crime and investigate crime without stepping over the line into civil rights issues. And personally I'd rather they have those limits in place, wouldn't you? The most disturbing aspect is that it seems the suspect was handcuffed at the time. Where did you read that? I've followed every story about this incident without seeing that. CSR

First of all, you have the lady's friends giving their support to to her. The officer was alone. I highly doubt that even someone with a short fuse would hit or attack a woman for no reason. People say the officer has a short fuse, yet in all of is hours of work, and serving in Iraq he has never had a problem. Personally I think the woman hit him, and he retaliated. Being the only cop there it is his word versus the the woman and her friends. I have heard some people say it is the police department against minorities. That is a joke. The fact is this lady did break the law, and the assumption is she hit the officer and the officer arrested her with the force that he had to.

He's had four official complaints against him to-date. StamfordMan wrote: Personally I think the woman hit him, and he retaliated. Look, police are not suppose to "retaliate" as you state. They are there to protect the citizen's life while protecting their own lives. There is nothing in any police training about retaliating, but you know what if you are a cop, and you think this was retaliation, so be it. Illustrates some of the issues the SPD may have. Hopefully they fire this jackoff of a cop. Regardless if he is a Combat Marine or not, no need to assault a handcuffed woman. He looses my respect for that. In the end I believe we will no longer be a part of the force. He should just save himself some aggravation and resign.
