IS something WRONG with this picture?? The last paragraph in this article states the City BOard ACCEPTED a $10,000 donation from George A. Fuller Construction (Capielli's own company) for city fireworks this Monday??? After all that has happened and the above remarks of disgust by BOARD members???? Who is shoveling what now???? You do not accept any money of any type from companies that are under scrutiny for not following laws of any type! Fuller has been under the microscope since May and yet the BOARD accepts money?? If nothing is wrong, then it sure looks like HUSH MONEY from the developer/construction company owner to others!!!!!!!! Give the money back and go after the man who controls both side of the coin and get OSHA in here, which should have been done long ago!!

Ten grand can't buy "protection."
It is likely - though coincidentally unfortunate - that the donation was just that. Fine. But now it's time for Martin, Mirkin and Zelinsky to turn up some serious heat. Curious minds are still wondering if the purported imposition of that "safety inspector" ever took place. If so, again, we ask: who, why that person, salary cost to builder, paper trail of orders to clean up, and whether or when work was done after the claimed imposition of the "inspector" on Fuller. Since Advocate reporters can't bear to ask, I hope some member of the Board of Reps will demand that phantom's presence, bio, work history on site, etc., at this yet-to-be-scheduled session. |

1 Really? How much did Fuller contribute to fireworks in Greenwich and Darien where they have no ongoing job? Let's be clear: donations by a contracting company during the building phase are not civic gestures. They are attempts to influence community and government attitudes toward the onor. It isn't as if Fuller has an ongoing presence in Stamford or owners who live here. Can our public safety be bought for only $10,000? Right now i'm not quite sure. Where else have they made donations? |

I agree. If the City doesn't already have it, it should consider developing some ethics rules around these types of situations. |

Just Say NO to the zoning board the next time one of these comes around!

Ten grand cold cash in someone's back pocket, maybe. But not a public fireworks donation. That's hardly a quid pro quo price for a mess like this. That it was done in Fuller's self-interest, no doubt. The role reversal here is interesting. I am hardly an apologist for the administration. |

Hardly. I know them, but I am in no way related. And I didn't go to the fireworks either. |

1 At this point, it seems pretty certain that there never really was an inspector assigned - it was an effort to smooth things over by making the public believe that city was actually taking some kind of action. |
We are exactly on the same page. It seems the Ministry of Truth has been busy again. |

1 Don't worry about that. By the way, what is your name and what is your address? haha, get a life. Let me guess... you are a republican and tired of always losing elections, right? so you attack the man's family? I have problems with that. |

The supposition was really amusing, 180 degrees off. While we're at it, I hope the Board of Reps also demands information - just to clear the air, mind you - on exactly who has/&/or had commitments or arrangements to purchase units in the "Death Tower." If members of the administration, their families, or close associates are there, we've just begun to see the smoke. |
