I am sorry but you lay down with a man and make a baby what makes you think that the church owes you anything.I am very sorry your son is ill but you should have filed child support like the rest of the single mom.Not demand the church keep paying you more money thats just wrong!

You didn't marry the church, you had an affair with a priest! Lady, your poor choice does not mean that the church should pony up.

As emotionally charges this issue is I have to ask the question of why Ms. Bond had an illicit affair with a Roman Catholic priest and the same goes for the priest. I am sure this is going to make great news but there will be no good endings to this story.

Yes it does take 2 to tango, but why all of a sudden do you cause pain to an individual that is dying? If you gave birth to this child with a man that was not a priest do you think you would have received financial support? The church supported this child and was responsible? Also Ms. Bond how do we know what the agreement you signed says? Was the priest to stay away? To me just by coming out and bringing this to the public tells me that you are NOT thinking of your child, but want financial gain. Being a Mom - I am appalled at reading this story because my first thought was all you want is money. I feel so very sorry for Nathan, he did not ask to be brought into this world, but he was, instead of trying to smear each other's names why don't both of you hold that young man in your arms and tell him thank you for being in your lives as short as it may be.
I will say I have known this priest for over 30 years and he is my friend and always will be, but who has the right to judge anyone? No one does except God. A human life is in the balance - show love and compassion it is not the time to be mean.

The Catholic Church needs to clean up its act.
How many priest have molested or abused children.
They do not practice what they preach.
How old was this girl when she started having an affair with this priest????

This is why I don't go to church. My morals and values are better than the one preaching them.

Here's another case of the Church failing to live up to common moral norms. No wonder many people leave in disgust.

I'm not saying the situation is right or wrong. I'm just saying the Catholic church should have suspended him a long time ago according to church rules.

As far as the agreement and what they paid her, there is a fine line on what churches are responsible for. If he had been suspended, he would have had to make a living, and pay child support just like anyone else.

Nathan's mother is very brave to tell the secret. Nathan's father went along with his mother signing the confidentiality agreement. Why did he do that? Why did he not leave the priesthood and be a part of the family that he insinuated himself into. He took advantange of Nathan's mother when she went to him for help and he used his priesthood power to convince her his love was real. This mother did not have the power to stand up to the awful choice he gave to her: A CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT. Now this woman is getting the primitive judgment that woman have received since antiquity.

In other new on this topic – Jesuit Sex Tourism Scandal
Fairfield [Jesuit] University (Connecticut, USA) alum and 2002 commencement speaker Douglas Perlitz ’92 was indicted by a Bridgeport, Connecticut grand jury on September 17, 2009 on 10 counts surrounding allegations that he sexually abused at least nine children while working as a missionary in Haiti. The Fairfield [Jesuit] University community traveled to Haiti to work with Perlitz and supported him financially.

These [alleged] salacious acts point to a need to investigate the potential for sex abuse of children in the programs of each Jesuit University that has links to humanitarian work in foreign countries.

Each Jesuit University in the USA needs to immediately inform the directors of university-related committees, which have links to humanitarian work in foreign countries, of the charges in the Fairfield-Haiti scandal to prevent this sort of [alleged] sexual gratification from tarnishing other Jesuit Universities.

Fr. Thomas Smolich, at the Jesuit USA headquarters in Washington, DC, should act immediately to protect vulnerable children in third-world countries.

While my sympathies go out to her, she was not raped. It was consensual sex. Yes, of course it shouldn't have happened but that doesn't put the employer on the hook. If this man was employed by anyone else it would not be an issue. She's a goldigger going after deep pockets and using the media to blackmail the Catholic Church. Also, what I am sick and tired of is the immunity that rabbis enjoy. The media has gone after Christians vehemently (and maybe rightly so) but leaves jews untouched and it is well known that rabbis are even worse than the Christians yet the public is insulated from the facts.

Priests can do what they want and the catholic church never stands behind the ones that are hurt by their actions. But they want us to give more and more money every Sunday. I don't get it.

Like I said, the church should have suspended him at the time instead of keeping it quiet and paying her money. He would be working outside the church and liable for his child. In this part, I do feel the church is responsible for the way they handled it. And people wonder why people are leaving the Catholic church? I got tired of putting in Sunday offerings and wondering what sex abuse case lawyer it would be helping to pay.

I admit I'm not very educated on the rabbis and jewish practices. Are they allowed to marry? to have children? If they are, then that is different than the Catholic church, which "supposedly" is not allowed.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Virgo

This is not a day for sitting still if you can possibly avoid it because it will be a fast track to bad temper and sharp-tongued outbursts. Have plenty of short breaks, go for lots of walks or work up a sweat in the gym in your lunch-hour. If you're driving, keep an eye on the speedometer because it will be very tempting to go too fast and you'll be furious if you're caught.
