If the sampling is accurate, there are 126 other names wrongly on these databases. The editor should have demanded a quote from someone that the other 90 per cent of the names will be similarly scrutinized. Watch lists were a common tool of the Nazis. Once we tolerate watch lists, it is very easy for mission creep to turn them into tools of oppression.

The easiest way to tell a gang member. Is see if they have a badge and a gun. The most violent gangs hide behind the law. The metro gang taskforce is a fine example of predators with a badge, The worst of the worst gangs, Criminal just us systems. these gangs must be destroyed to protect all the people . Americans deserve to have these criminal enterprises from the judge to the da arrested, End the double standards. This is the only way to create a democracy in America. Destroy the terrorist in each court house. The worst gangs have swat teams. death sqauds. Today children call child molseters. Your Honor or officer.

Star Tribune published an article today ,about the defunct gang strike force and possible coming indictments. The issue here is who were the decision makers who selected the St. Paul Police officers to work in the gang stsrike force.

In this country cops still protect cops. It will take the feds to get anything prosecuted successfully. Then, and only then, will something get donee. And, you can bet your bottom dollar they will only find one or two folks to prosecute...but they will hang them out to dry. Bad cops are the norm and are the majority. Good cops become bad cops when the committ the crime of silence by not ratting on their brothers and sistrs whom they most often know are crooked. Get used to it. This is America. bill wrote: I keep waiting for some information to surface as to when the defunct gang force members that committed felonies will be prosecuted.

If this were Nazi Germany with no accountablity, your argument would have merit. Since it's not then you are make a false correlation. Since Police Officers are held to a public standard and, when a Police Officer commits a crime and is prosecuted, they cannot be a Police Offier anymore, this is very different than being in a Gang. In a Gang, a member is rewarded for criminal activity and moves up the ranks faster and earns status. So calling the Police a Gang is a false analogy. Also, if you chose to believe everything that has been printed about the Gang Strike Force, which, so far as has been completely one-sided, that is your choice. I would encourage you to have an open mind. I would point out that there are over 10,000 Police Officers in Minnesota. To say that the Police are corrupt is a gross exageration. There are millions of things Police Officers do every year in this state that are decent and heroic. That never makes the paper. To single out a couple bad actors then apply that to the rest is a part to whole fallacy.

"Largest" Largest to what? What kind of comparison is that. How do you measure your statement? Also, Criminal Justice Systems destroy generations for personal gain? Where was it alleged in the article that the statitiscal error or a random sampling proved it was for personal gain? This has led to our economic problems and homlessness? I thought our economic problems was the result of the failure of the housing industry? I thought the problem of homelessness was the result of alcohol, narcotics and mental disorders?

Most of whats been written has to deal with how property was forfeited and those funds are to be used. Under State Statute, it is a little gray. All the money from the forefeited property actually stayed in the Strike Force. Nowhere has it been alleged the money went into the bank accounts of police. As for the issue with property being sold to family members. The statute is gray. If property has gone throught the forfeiture process, technically it could be sold to anyone...I don't believe there is any state law that requires the property to go to a Sheriff sale or public auction. Now, that maybe something that should be addressed and changed. However, to compare it to a person who robs someone on the street or breaks into their home and steals their property is a faulty comparision.

"Think About It" I agree with you that this is much ado about nothing. I also trust the police and believe nothing wrong was done here. If anything there were no laws or policies that were violated, it was either a gray area or just a misunderstanding. I'm with you and hope they make no changes to the forfeiture process. In fact I hope they expand it and allow police to confinscate more property and money. This will help their budgets during this down turn. Once all GSF members are cleared I hope they sue for millions.

"... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one MAKES them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.......just pass the the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted -- and you create a nation of law-breakers -- and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with."- p.411, Ayn Rand, ATLAS SHRUGGED, Signet Books, NY, 1957

I think the names of the thugs on the Gang Strike Force should be on this list.
