19 years old and that depress is sad to know. How bad can it be at 19 years old? People need to realize these things early in there childhood and find happiness inside.

He should not have been arrested. He should have been treated with kindness and compassion and taken to a hospital for mental health treatment.

What a loser!!! What he needs is to either jump and get it over with or get off the bridge and stop holding up traffic. For those who say he shouldn't be arrested? Give me a break. So basically people can do anything and then say that you are feeling like killing yourself and you should not have to face the consequences? Some people can be fooled by the dumbest of people.

If this person were a girl contemplating an abortion she would be urged to do it at a Planned Parenthood facility; if this person were 90 years old and terminally ill she would be "assisted" in her choice...what have we come to as a society??

That is what happened. They used the word "arrest" but actually he was put on a 24hr hold and brought to the hospital - and even if he was arrested - how do you know that the cops didn't treat him "nicely."

Arrested? For what crime? It isn't a crime to be depressed. It's a mental illness, which is no less physical than any other illness. Perhaps we should start arresting cancer victims for being sick, or people with asthma or diabetes.

Way to go SPPD. Kudos to you for your idiocy.

They initially arrest him and go through the proper channels to get him some help and all of it is for his and other peoples protection. What did you want them to do leave alone or what. Just what other route could the police take, you tell me. Should they have called the guys with the white coats to come and restrain him and take him away? The police are here to protect everyone. Thast means me and you and this guy too from himself if that is what is needed. They don't rough him up and treat him like a bad guy, they treat him with kid gloves actually and with compassion. They are trained for these things. But ultimately they have to go through the proper protocal in order to get him to safety. Sheesh, poor cops athey alwys get a bad rap. Why don't people give them a break, after all they are no different than any of us and the fact is that like us, most are good people. They are not monsters and I fear that the young people today and for quite some time now have gotten the wrong message about police, just because some have bad ways about them, most are professional but compassionate at the same time.

St. Thomas is a few blocks south of there.

I bet he's a St. Thomas freshman who's homesick and not doing well in the classroom. Freshman depression is common amongst kids who were high-achievers in high school but just another struggling freshman in college.

He was taken to a hospital and placed on a secure hold for medical evauluation. You misread the statement that being taken into custody automatically means going to jail.

You've misread the statement about him being taken into custody. That doesn't mean he went to jail. Taken into custody means he can't leave on his own. He was brought to a local hospital and placed on a secure hold so he could be evaluated. You should be thanking the police for saving his life and not immediatly jumping to conclusions and calling the police idiots.

Please read the other posts that explain how he was brought to a hospital for an eval. Taken into custody just means he is not free to leave and he is under Police supervision until they release him to the hospital. Please don't jump to conclusions.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Scorpio

Something that you've always taken for granted or believed implicitly could have a big question mark hanging over it during the next few weeks. The more entrenched your views are about this, the more difficult it will be to accept that perhaps it's time for a change of opinion or, at the very least, a revaluation of what you think. Mercury turns retro in your house of communications, so do your best to be open-minded now.
