Apparently the legal system has successfully managed to convince the victim's entire family into believing their little "cop" out scanario they were real quick to jump on after hearing about this fatal tragedy...which, in turn, has enabled them to wrongfully convict an innocent man that soceity is now declaring a heartless murderer throughout the media (which is a false statement I must knowingly add), and, furthermore; sentence him not by a standard of law but by the extent of how much the victim's family has managed to publically voice their feelings of sorrow and mourning. Believe me, Antonio never in a million years expected the outcome as it was. And i'm sure he now regrets ever taking the time to try and prove- out of pure sympathy for his then-current life situation that people were there for him and cared about his existance, which I think was a concept totally new to him before he knew Antonio. He was shown love and respect from all of the Thelen family which was unconditional to say the least at that time. Turned out to be the worst mistake that i've ever known Tony to make. Because now he has been forced into accepting punishment for this immature individuals sudden and unexpected act of committing a very tragic and cold blooded murder. An act that ANTONIO THELEN truly DID NOT Commit. Nor did Thelen in any way forsee the final outcome anywhere similar to what JOSH HANES evidently had in store for Gibbs that night. And as the "Dirty members of our legal system" get together and likely take time to celebrate their latest victory or shall I say "triumph" that was accomplished after the sentencing hearing for Antonio's trial, likely with little if ANY regard or sincere or genuine concern for the continuing sorrow that the Gibbs family must go on and somehow cope with....But above and beyond any other fact of this whole incident: remains the SCARIEST part which apparently society refuses to believe because of their instantly and easily persuaded opinions which were fabricated in a "corrupt Make Believe Land" somewhere deep in Ramsey County that have ultimately failed to correctly provide evidence that Antonio in fact is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. And that is because the "REASONABLE DOUBT" (whom somehow managed to afford to hire a private attorney with aid from his long lost family, which allotted him enough time to change up his story THREE times before finally being able to memorize his "lines" in his testimony during Tony's trial in exchange for a pretty sweet Plea Bargain) could be on the path to his next impulsive misfortune. But from his experience...it's been proven to him that consequences are only minor for devastating acts of senseless violence such as this ...What is the world coming to?

"But Thelen showed plenty of bad judgment himself on the night of the murder: being at a known gang hangout, stealing a car, drinking and pursuing the deadly faceoff with Gibbs, she said."

Yeah, outstanding young man...

No way Josh Hanes killed Gibbs and just gets probation lol Fantasy world your living in 'Wrongful Conviction'. Maybe gibbs wasn't a saint and maybe he involved himself with and engaged in less than High moral and ethical activities than brought him into contact with Thelen and hanes and the others present at the known Gang house but he didnt deserve a bullet in the head I don't think.

People can be good to those they truly care about and still be foul people to the rest of society and that seems to be the case with Thelen so let me be the first to say the should put him under the jail!!! Maybe what you say about hanes is true and if so he will either get street justice or end up on the iron vacation soon enough!

Hey "Wrongful Conviction":
What are you, his lawyer? Let me guess: this Antonio paycheck of yours is pure as the driven snow and is utterly devoted to his momma and his pet dog Scrappy.

Wrongful conviction was not at the scene of the shooting, and only knows what Thelen (remember, gang member, has prior criminal history, does not care enough about his kids to pay child support -- ohh then he would have to get a job like the rest of us) spouted after the fact to save his lying, killing, crime committing butt. Wrongful conviction was not on the jury and has not clue. Thelen and wrongful conviction may be idiots, but let's remember that 12 normal people (jurors who are law abiding, pay taxes, show up to serve) found otherwise. Keep ranting Wrongful Conviction....shows that Thelen's supporters are as stupid, uneducated, probably criminal....just like him. Do you pay your child support?

The motive was presumably gang-related, but it would have been nice if Ms. Gurnon had elaborated on the motive or acknowledged that she did not have any motive-related information.

I agree with the statement of his mother, they are portaying him and his family in a very poor manner. They are not bad people at all, and though Tony made a big mistake and may have taken someones life that night, he is not a heartless person as the article claims. You can't judge a person by one action in their life no matter how severe the consequences, especially when it was most likely actions that were induced by drugs and/or alcohol, and adrenaline from provocation.

Get a Clue,

Do you know him, do you know his family or friends? How can you say that his supporters are stupid, uneducated and criminal...

I support him because I've known him my whole life and because I don't know what really happened that night and neither do you, and yes he's made mistakes and he's not perfect but he's family, and family supports eachother.

But to make the comment you made is thougthless and ignorant, I know personally I am far from any of those things you said, as are the rest of his family!

Dear Offended: You are right...he is not perfect....he is a murderer, gang member, loser father (hmmm...child support...?)...that's all I need to know to make judgment. Glad you support this type of behavior. None of my family members are gang members, they raise and support their children, have jobs...so yes I support them. Whose supporting him, his kids? US, taxpayers. If you so support him....perhaps you could take over his child support payments and support his kids so the rest of us don't have to. Remember, that's what family does?

Dear Ramsey County Child Support (or should I include other counties....does Thelen have kids in more than one county he is not supporting?): We have someone who is willing to step up and "support" family. Offended, please let them know where you'll be sending the check. Or is this, "we support family" just a line of BS. Put your money where your mouth is.

It is obvious who the uneducated one is because ignorance is created by lack of education, and you are clearly ignorant. You're telling me that if someone in your family made a stupid mistake as he did, one that you couldn't completely confirm was done by them, that you'd abandon them and not sit in court hoping for the best for them because you know what kind of person they really are? Are you seriously basing judgment off a person because of child support. Again, do you know him?

"Thelen, 32, and Joshua Hanes, 19, were partying at a friend's house Aug. 21 when the friend saw Gibbs, 21, drive by and asked Thelen to follow him.

Thelen and Hanes got in a car and confronted Gibbs when they both pulled to the corner of Smith Avenue and Kellogg Boulevard. Thelen then shot Gibbs in the head."

I love it! That's it. They just decided to follow and shoot him. No reason, no previous history between these two individuals, or more likely these two GANGS. But "Sean Gibbs was a light in his family's life." No way Sean Gibbs was, himself, a gang member, right? Give me break. Say it like it is. Two gang member got in a fight, one of them shot the other and he died. The guy who shot him got caught and now he's going to jail. Now let's just wait til he gets out to do it again. Great.
