It might be one statistic that is common among almost all of the students, It is not picking someone who you met that obviously must have been at a school function so they obviously probably were involved in the childs education. In summary I am not convinced like you that a one parent household is better for a childs education, in fact I have never heard anyone that thinks it is until now.
