Help protect me from myself legislation is worthless. I'm glad they found 9 hotels in MN they can rent from. I travel all the time and would find it impossible due to the time to locate a special hotel and need for it in a specific area to accommodate my business needs. More crap legislation which doesn't accomplish anything..........Feel better yet?

Seriously? Isn't there a budget crisis to solve or something? As long as they aren't buying porn with tax dollars I don't give a crap what they do during their off hours. This is just DUMB.

Do the members of the MN Mens Action network have so little self control they can't not watch PPV p0rn if it's offered? What's next, no minibar because alcohol, soda and too many mixed nuts are bad for you?

I wonder how much Sen Clark's religious beliefs are leading to this opposition to p0rn? if you don't want to see it, don't turn on the TV? Don't like the station, turn the dial on the radio, or better still, turn it off. If it's broadcasting something legal, let's see the statistics that offer any correlation between p0rn and domestic violence? Or is it just something they 'know'?

Databases, follow up, enforcement, etc. Not a feasible bill or law, and does nothing to change behaviors. Did they forget most hotels have internet access? Where do they think most people get their porn these days?

No change other than a DEPARTMENTAL CHANGE need take place. NO PORN to show up on bills from state employees. Period. Problem solved. No laws, databases, etc. needed. If someone at the state breaks this policy, they are relieved of their position and the taxpayers save more money.

More DFL nanny state crap that they haven't thought through any further than which hotels will be contributing to their campaigns if this is passed. Not about "safety" in the least. The seatbelt law change was for our "safety" as well.

Please find something better to do with your time, like not voting for bills that continue to raise our taxes.

A part of me thinks however these bills that are a complete waste of time is just what the public wants to see out of fledgling democrats. This is the type of thing that is going to get you buried in October.

While they are at it they should eliminate the internet from those hotels as well. Many people probably use the internet for their porn rather than pay-per-view. We have more important problems going on in this state/country than "clean hotels". Start creating bills that help lower the costs of healthcare, reduce taxes, fix roads, and reduce state spending. If you don't want porn in your room, don't order it!

What happens if the only hotel without porn is the most expensive? This si the stupidist thing I have ever heard of. If a State Worker charges this stuff to the tax payer, fire them. Simple as that.

There is no peer reviewed research that correlates viewing pornography with increased instances of illegal behaviors. There is plenty of research showing that viewing pornography promotes healthy sexual relationships and assuages impulses to commit illegal behaviors. More importantly, the consumer market has already shown that Americans overwhelmingly prefer adult access to adult materials. Legal pornography is the largest internet market in the world.
If these splinter groups are looking for a commercial hotel that is "clean", the American way is to open their own hotel-- not coerce arbitrary restrictions of the rights of other citizens. The only reason they don't open their own hotel is that they aren't very good capitalists, they don't really care to be in the hotel business, and they probably know they couldn't make a living. The only way they could make this business plan work would be to create a CAPTIVE customer base. Great idea! Let's write a law that public employees HAVE to use only our hotels! Then we'll have a monopoly customer supply to get our business started! So these religious charletons take the easy route and sucker some politician eager for fundamentalist votes into offering another bill to restrict our freedoms. Remember those Sunday Blue laws?
The silliest thing is the implication that some existing hotel would remove a customer amenity to obtain the paltry business of Minnesota public employees. Legal adult businesses are overwhelmingly accepted by Minnesota residents.
If the true purpose of these splinter groups is to reduce access to pornography, they could write a law forbidding state employees from including video viewing on their expense accounts. The fact that they want to overreach instead, has the smell of the rat.
Maybe pornography isn't your vice of choice. But the same tactic has been used countless times in American history (remember Prohibition?) to bully the general public into surrendering to the moral dictates of the Bible Thumpers. Republicans who believe in limited government need to stand up against such tyranny by a vocal minority.
I hope somebody in the State Legislature has the courage and common sense to make this bill face the ignominious defeat that it deserves.

Tarryl, please put in your resignation and just stay home and flick the bean if you know what I mean. You obviously are in a position that's way over your head.

It never ceases to amaze me how so-called conservatives, the advocates of smaller, less-intrusive government put forth such hypocrisy when it comes to promoting their moral agenda. This issue is clearly a matter of personal choice as long as the employee pays for the service. It is not like smoking where a broad public health issue causes billions of tax dollars to be wasted at all levels, and the personal health of millions is at stake. If you want to see immediate and tangible social legislative impact, tighten up gun registration laws. Oh...what...you say that raises yer dander? Where DO you draw the line? Please err on the side of retaining personal liberties!
