Chief Hatch says in in his letter about Burglarly Prevention "7. Do not use force to defend your property. Georgia law does not make allowances for a person to harm another person in order to protect property."

From "Shooting and Shouting," a book on home defense.

If strangers break into your home, just lay down and let them have their way with you. Relax and try to enjoy it if you can.

Don't shoot; call the cops. Hopefully the cops are over 15 minutes away so your guest have time to enjoy themselves. Try to avoid interuptus coitus or a strained unconfortable situation. Be nice to your new friends and they may be nice to you.

If they enter my home...They better hope they are right with God. The milli second I get the chance, I will unload that mossberg 500 loaded with slugs into them. I dont give 2 craps about what Georgia law says.

You just tipped off the frat boys at the Department of Homeland Defense, the Fast and Furious prep boys at AFT and Holder's thugs at The Justice Department that you have a mossberg 500. They will put that information in their files and come to collect your last line of defense sooner or later.

Can't have you shooting any pimps, hos or Katrina refugees that stray into your abode.

LOL!!! That isnt the only weapon I have. Tell them to come and take them. As far as this mossberg being at the low scale of the shotgun world I am not worried there either. It will still put a hole in you and that's all that matters.

regarding property on your propety but not within the confines of your actual house.

He was also correct reading preventing theft of our property off of your property i.e., comig out of Wamart just in time to see a bastard great grandson of the Great Society driving off in your car.

However, if he is even in the act of breaking into your home, much less caught in it, he is in season year round - with no bag limit! No license or tag required.

Good shooting!

I think the law states that if you feel that you are in danger and your life is threatend, its weapons free. A Deputy sheriff told me that.

I would like GA to go to the same rules as Texas.

The use of deadly force is allowed to protect life and property, either yours or someone else's.

Georgia's CD covers the four corners of your property..... not just you inside your house. You CAN protect your property and Hatch is wrong. That dosn't mean he wouldn't persue you if you defended yourself in your own home, but wrong he is.

Come into my home uninvited and unlawfully, best of luck to ya.

read for comprehension.

The subject was the legality of using deadly force to protect property not within the walls of your house.

If a guy is breaking into your car in your driveway, you cannot legally shoot the scum from your window.

"Stand your ground" would definitely NOT apply.

And by the way, stand your ground in the Trayvon Martin case is a red herring. That was garden variety self defense that did not have a damned thing in the world to do with Florida's stand your ground law.
