St. Mary's PD

My husband went down to huddle house about an hour ago, by Sonic's well there were 8 cops all in the returant bragging about how there not gonna have anything to do this weekend, well as soon as he said it there was a car accident right in front they all just looked... Then this old man got up from bis table and asked if they were gonna go respond to the damn accident, police sisnt like that but it took him to say something for them to go do it.

That's comforting. Only living here a month I can see that response time around here is slooooooooow. For everything.

The experiences I Have had with St. Marys Police have not been pleasant. They gave me a ticket for running the red light at 40 and spur 40, I didn't run the light..But you cant win so I just paid the fine.
Then, Johnny Guy is the lead detective in Dr.Chua's case and he hadn't been sober in 20 yrs.

I would like to say that the 2 Camden Co. officers that came to my aide on the interstate Fri. after my accident honestly was the nicest police officers I had ever dealt with.. I wish I had gotten there names...They were great...THANKS GUYS....

yes i had an accident yesterday on 95 by exit 24 a van hit something and it went under my van, then 15 mins later a car hit it,(drives shaft) finally cops came by 4 and then another car hit the samething, but the dealt with the situation in a timely manner they were awesome, your right Camden County Officers were awesome, keep up the good work guys, and maybe you can teach something to our cops here in St Marys

I had to call the St Mary's police last night due to a peeping tom incident ... anyhow let me just say their response time was incredible. Not only did one cruiser show up but there was 2 with spotlights thoroughly checking all dense area and the whole street.

I eat at the Huddle House frequently and observe police officers eating there from time to time. I have never observed an officer of the SMPD not attend to a situation that needed Police attention, anywhere. As far as the accident on I-95, St. Marys Police don't have jurisdiction on I-95. As far as the slow response times, I feel that they respond faily well considering the amout of territory they have to cover and the lack of Police Officers on duty at any given time. Its my understanding that SMPD is about 10 to 12 officers short at present, thereby forcing all other officers to work 12 hour shifts. If you want more police and better response times you should contact the elected officials and candidates for office in the upcoming election, and go to the polls and vote for the candidate you feel will correct all these deficiencies and complaints listed here.

Yes, the St. Marys Police Department is top notch. A couple of years back, they did have some problems with bicycle riding officers giving too many tickets and other minor incidents. I know one policeman on their force and he has character and honesty. If all are like him, then St. Marys can sleep peacefully at night.

I think the St. Marys Police are great, they work hard and the response time is very good.
They take care of the drug problem and the detectives work very hard. They are a group of quiet professionals who are there at a drop of a hat.

Uhhhh, you better smoke some more of that Rok.

feelthflo, I'd ask your husband to send Chief Hatch an email, and\or write a letter to the editor at the Tribune & Georgian. Maybe even file a complaint at the P.D. Not only get the attention of SMPD, but the residents who read the paper as well.

I know several of SMPD's officers and like Citizen for Truth,I know them to be excelent examples of professionals who do a difficult job.
Thier people of character and integrity.

Certinaly I can't speak for the entire force and if that incident at the Huddle House went down as it did, let everyone know that behavior isn't unacceptable......I'll wager some of SMPD's own would take the officers in question to task on it.

If you send a letter to them you better print it real big and space the letters out so that they can read it real slow and maybe move their lips as they r e a d.

the best dept in camden county is kpd the leadership above lt sux...but the officers are very good..really the officers in all three depts are good but above LT..THEY HAVE NO REAL NATURAL LEADERSHIP ABILITY. SOME JUST ARE THERE BECAUSE OF DADDY...UNCLE..GET RID OF THESE COMBINE THE TROOPS...CAMDEN CRIME WILL GO DOWN.

Hey chunker if the leadership was so poor how come the officers are still around, the number one reason Police Officers leave is MANAGEMENT, thats a fact and you can look it up on your puter when you are spouting off on a topic you dont know anything about.

And before you say they stay cause they need the money, every department in GA is hiring so they would not be out of a job long.

If it had not been for the combined effort of the smpd, gbi,kpd and the ccso and others I would not be around to read the comments posted. They helped to save my life and for that I am eternally grateful. Thank you to all the men and women on the police force for all that you did for my family and all that you continue to do for camden county. God speed

Homie say Maxine took off after suking up a better paying gig out at the Nav Base working for those lame butt security poh-poh's in the training department........guess he will be teaching them how to fasten their Depends....
