How can less than 51% be a majority?

Because the votes were split. The proper way would have been to have 2 people running for each position...but that didn't happen, you had thos ethat ddn't want Deloughy split between Cyphers and Eskridge....so Deloughy walked away with the most votes. Same thing in the other races, so it wasn't so much for majority.....rather than who got the most.

I don't think it is illegal.....I just don't like it. I think having too many candidates running for 1 seat or position can confuse people. It needs to be a simple process in it should be one on one. You then truly see what and who the people want. Get too many people involved and amongst the confusion......you get a mess.

It was well calculated. All the winners went against the others on issues, so in retrospect, those that did not agree with them split their votes between all of the other candidates.

The bad part about it is.....we have ended up with a Mayor and Council that the people of St. Marys didn't really want.
