Question:

Why did our School Board decide to start and end our Elementary, middle, and High School's day in the order they did?

Elemantary school day ends about 2:30, Middle school's day ends around 2:50, and the High School's day is over at 3:10.

I thought (and this is just me) it'd make more sense to have the older kids home first to faciliate taking care of the younger children to assist the working parents out there.

The time that school ends is not the decision of the County, it is a state mandate.

The state does not mandate start and stop times; only required instructional time. If you go to the state website: http://www.doe.k12.ga.us/ you will find that under rules. The school system changed the start stop times to try to "fix" the bus driver issue, but as stated by others only created more problems. They have also caused the bus system to violate the GA guidance that students should only walk up to 1/2 mile to a bus stop. The school system needs to find a knowledgeable person to run the transportation system.

I wonder how many of the school board members have small children that need day care or extended care programs? If it does not affect them what do they care anyway !!!!!!!

Roger that.I heard it was a bus issue but your right, someone dedicated to school transportation needs to be brought in.

they changed it to reduce fuel costs. With the new schedules they make 25% less bus trips and can offer the bus drivers better pay because they get more routes. The bus employees stated that pay was the major reason for the high turnover rate, which in turn costs more money.

Call Mr. Stewart, who is in charge of school transportation, or look up the article in the T&G they wrote about it in late May when this was decided. They provided details of the reasons for this change.

I love this expression, but my kids don't. I've always heard it with a "new rope"; since you have a gold rope you probably work for the county schools since they have increased their budget about 12% with a decreasing student population.
