Ignorance at it's best. What does Capt Barry being the Uncle of a criminal have to do with anything? Nothing.

I went to UNA. It's a good school, but I transfered after being arrested by FPD. I was young and drinking at the time. I made a mistake of consuming alcohol to excess and being in a public place. However, there were major criminal charges brought against me that were false and unjustified. The charges were dropped, and I luckily got out of Florence. I have 3 college degrees, a beautiful family, and a great Christian life. I have no hard feelings toward the FPD; however, I have a criminal record that I must live with. I encourage college students to never drink in a public place in Florence Alabama or anywhere else. Date-rape drugs are rampant in the bars and clubs. When you put yourself in a vulnerable situation, bad things always happen. Educate yourself and be aware of your surroundings. Police are not becoming more corrupt. The world is just decaying, and with it the institutions and laws of this country are fleeting.

It's people like you and all the other whiners about the police that expect them to come running to save your butts when something happens. What if the boy with the gun permit had walked in Best Buy to shoot everybody in there? what then?? When I get pulled over, for whatever reason, I thank them for doing their job. Here's a hint for all: if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's usually a duck. Stupid people!! God forbid you ever need police.
Whose butt has the Florence police ever saved?

The whole state of Alabama sucks a big fat one, especially Florence!!!! The cops are dirty and uneducated. Alabama is ranked 47Th out of 50 in education. Does that not tell America what kind of idiots come from there. Alabama's family tree has only a straight line and no branches
It appears that you know what you are talking about...your family tree with no branches!

<quoted text> No one who is God fearing can accept gay people and expect to go to heaven. THAT IS A FACT. However you have to realize that all black folks play the "race card" at every opportunity they get and expect to be overlooked for the crime that they commit. Black people talk so tough but when it comes down to it they can only operate in groups or gangs and still CRY about everything like a bunch of little girls!
It seems you try to display yourself a christian but that's not a christian attitude. Jesus said to love everyone not just the ones you choose to love. It's not for us to judge people on how they live...leave that to God. I...I do know that racism and God can't live in ur heart at the same time. You took the whole black race and lumped them all together. They ALL do it, They ALWAYS..that would be like the black community saying all white people are white trash or can't dance. You can't judge a whole race on a few spoiled apples. I'm raising my black step granddaughter and it really makes me sad that there is still people with thoughts like you in 2012. So sad...but good luck with that Heaven thing. And even if God does have mercy on your blackened heart do you think there won't be black people in Heaven? Come on get real. It's sad when people hide behind God with they're hatred. smh

I know from experience that there is a lot of police harrassment going on in and around Florence, AL. When I was over there visiting my extended family during one summer, someone in my family got sick, and I went to visit them at E.C.M. late one night. The roads were almost deserted, and I must have looked mighty suspicious out there on the road all by my lonesome. I got pulled over and the guy had the nerve to ask me why I was out so late. I told him that someone in my family had been admitted into the E.R. and that shut him up real good. So, clearly there are a lot of jerk cops in this area with nothing better to do than bother innocent law-abiding citizens. He was keeping me from visiting my sick family member, and it was very, very rude.

That's part of his job is to ask questions you idiot. He's a cop, you think everyone he sees is going to see family? If that family member had been raped or murdered you'd want him out asking questions to everybody he could wouldn't you.

Unfortunately, Florence Police Department does remind me of a mini L.A.P.D.. They do tend to be overzealous at times and abuse their authority. All too often the people in law enforcement seem to forget who they work for. They go too far and overreach their boundaries. Personally, shows like Americas Most Wanted and Cops make me sick to my stomach. I can't watch them because they routinely abuse people and call it right and get away with it totally. I have watched officers slam people to the ground yelling don't resist and in fact the people weren't resisting. However, the cop has to say that to absolve the excessive brutal abusive force that is being applied at the time. That way they can't be held liable. Police also lie to standard civilians to obtain convictions and how many have you ever heard of actually being charged and convicted of entrapment. None right. We seem to have an ever growing problem in this country that "might makes right". I would take issue and totally disagree with this line of reasoning. Until we address this seriously and stop allowing these abuses we are destined to continue to backslide into basically a "police state" where the officers are always right and never questioned. I have to say that most police officers and fire fighters are not what I would aspire to "look up to". I don't view them and I don't recommend anyone especially children coming up to idolize these individuals. The simple fact is they are human and all too often succumb to egos that are unbecoming and detestable. Also, there have been and always will be many cases where these so called hero's have committed heinous crimes against the very communities that they serve. So let's not be to quick to look the other way because of the job title these folks hold. They should garner no more trust or less than a store keeper a cab driver etc. In conclusion, I would just say a word of caution that some and eventually most get the "big head" and think that their God and can do as they please and that you should shut up and take it. Well, I beg to differ and you should too.

I read and re-read your rhetoric and this is my assement of your issue.
You must be a convict because surely you would not encourage a child not to look up to law enforcement! Do you hang out at the PD and FD because your statement is "many cases"? You say they routinely abuse, well why are you at so many incidents? are you the criminal or are you an officer disenchanted with your job? And how could you disapprove of Americas most wanted as they try to capture fugitives? What has your life come to that you feel this way? Awe did you get fired? did you get busted or do you just generally wake up an AZZhole.

to 'that idiotic guy'
No, it is not a cop's job to pull a driver over simply because the roads are deserted and no one else is out at night. Obviously you must not have the brainpower to understand what fooledyoutwice said.
They were simply pulled over for acting suspicious, because they were supposed to be at home and in bed at night.
Florence and all of Alabama are scared of the dark completely out of their wits, and immediately think anyone out at night is a trouble-making, drug-user. All the Good christian folk are asleep in there beds, so they never have to face the night. The night is like the devil to them or something, and bad people come out then.(Real smart!)
Anyone has obviously never lived in Florence, or never ventures out at night there (the cops WILL stop you if you are the only car on the road and they feel like it, not always but there is a good chance they WILL)
if you say otherwise!
I've had many the experience with them, and so have others I've known.
Don't speak about what you don't know!
