St. Charles School District considers preschool program
A newly formed advisory committee is studying the possibility of a pre-school program, said Claudia Burkhart, principal at Lincoln Elementary School in St. Charles.

I think a preschool through St. Charles school district is a very good idea. I am looking for a preschool to send my children to and would love for it to be one that they may have the possiblity of going to school with the children.

What does this have to do with Florissant? Ferguson Florissant has a great preschool program already. |

Put them in Daycare like the rest of the world.

I can't believe a preschool teacher would say "put them in daycare". I can tell you from experience that the school district preschool programs are FAR better than the daycares. The daycares have high turnover and little interest in helping a child with special needs, and the workers are young and aren't always educated and you pay a ton of money for nothing.

Depends on the daycare. Some daycares have preschool teachers who do a lot of the lessons they would get in a school setting. Still not sure what this has to do with Florissant though.

St. Mark's Mini School is wonderful!!!!!! Most of the teacher that work there have been there for many years. My son that is in Ferg.-Flor. schools now is very smart and so is my son that still attends Mini School. If you are looking for a good place to take your kids check it out. They fill up mighty fast.

Sometimes it's best to pretend we don't see some posts. Like Ciera for exampel. We can only pray it is a joke and not give them a reason to keep posting.

hope your spelling improves at the new school or they point out what spell check is to you |

Better yet why doesn't the mother (or father) stay home with the kids and teach them until they are ready for kindergarten? It worked 30 years ago and we had better kids and better family values. Not to mention the crime rate was way down.

I can. Teachers and parents both are complaining about how the School District is operating. Two years ago they said that they didn't have enough budget to keep all of the schools open. Now all of a sudden thay have the money to bring a building up to code so it can be used as their office. Why couldn't it have been brought up to code and kept open as a school??? |

I cant speak for the school districts program but I can tell you as a daycare worker we all are not just young and uneducated. My work requires any full time worker to have at least an associates degree in early childhood. Not to mention the cirriculum is state mandated and the center as a whole is accredited through the state as well as inspected on a regular basis by the state and other agencies. If you are looking at day care centers ask them if they are accredited. Ask them who approves the lessons and what education level their workers are.
Thanks |

Having a pre-school in a the school district is a wonderful idea. Many families can not afford to put their child in a daycare. If the school district opens the program to families in need first and then whatever is available can be considered for any child that would be a splended idea.
|
What about a post-school? I think a post-school would be a better idea than a pre-school. I know a lot of families cannot afford to put their elderly parents in an adult daycare. If the school district would the program to families in need first and then whatever is available can be considered for any elderly person. That would be a splendid idea. And it's a proven fact that our seniors need their minds stimulated daily the older they get. Much dementia could be prolonged or eliminated with adult post-schools. |

Adult day care is a wonderful idea. But adult day care would come out of a social services budget rather than the already depleted St. Charles school budget.
