I think that Bridgeton, which is the city I live in, should choice the union workers. Union employees take more pride in their work, and are held to higher standards by the union. Everyone should stick together to higher LOCAL UNION COMPANIES! BUY AMERICAN!!!

Yes it should go to the union it keeps every one working and when they do a job they stand behind the work.
We will not let no one work on our house unless
they are union.

I believe that the Bell Electric should get the contract as there are several Local 1 people that lives in and pays their taxes in Bridgeton! Why should'nt our residents get the contract! Keep our dollars here!

Unions are dead idea from a bygone era. There's no more reason to support mobsters stealing from their members paychecks. Unions are a throwback and only useless, lazy, rednecks hang on to Union membership. Besides we all know WOPS are no longer in control, now it's the jews. You didn't think that Brook really liked nice things? He's allowed to succeed cuz he's a member of the tribe.
Sounds to me like you are one of the scabs... It's people like you that caused the economic and moral downfall of this country. You yellow-bellied people would rather run scared than stand up for anything.

This name calling is not helping anything. You are just as low as the person you are trying to insult when you do that.
OBviously everyone is not in a union, so how could unions keep everyone working?

katz..

You must not be union because you would know who got the contract.
And yes UNIONS fought for a lot of things in 100 years.
Not just for union people but for all working people.
They helped shut down the sweat shops and helped stop child labor.

I guess there will be pickets at the construction site. Everyone has a right to make a living, union or otherwise.

Crown won the contract!! That is great that the city can use that $ 80, 000.00 for more important things like police and fire. By the way, wage rates for the electricians are identical no matter who received the contract. Its called prevailing wage.

If it was easy to get in Local 1, everyone would be. I tried several times, but I didn't have the right connections, so it was impossible. I am still an American that lives and works near you. I also still only buy American. I also pay union dues and get benefits from my union, just not yours.

It is a shame that in this day and age Unions are considered “Mob” ruled or their members “rednecks “.Most of the time those comments are made by people who have no idea what Union membership is or what it stands for.
Unions provide the means of producing very highly skilled tradesmen which in turn, help reduce cost to the customer, while at the same time producing a well made product.
I have had two family members, use contractors not affiliated with I.B.E.W.(because they were not the lowest bid) one had the panel catch on fire in the first month, the other had several wiring issues.
The fact that one bid was so much lower is interesting,
Sometimes you get what you pay for.

To "Jennifer"-You uneducated hoosier! How can you say "its people like you...."? Unless you have been under a rock for the past 18 mos., I think its been established that the housing market was one of the main contributors of this current economy we are ALL struggling in right now. All other aspects of the economic downturn followed suit as a result. WOW, get a clue, stop pointing the finger and start pulling the thumb.
To "Tom"- I could not agree more regarding the surplus this township would have. That would be great for them have that extra $$ in their budget for other needs.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Sagittarius

Mercury turning retrograde in your house of finances carries a rather unseasonal message, because it's telling you to pay attention to your finances over the next few weeks. If you already know that you've overspent this month, you won't need to be told that a few economies are just around the corner. Get the facts straight and pay attention to the small print. You may also have to make some adjustments to an intimate relationship so it can move into another phase.
