I agree he is going to be good. He is a great player and has his head on straight. hopefully his line protects him and allows him to do the job he can do. I am sure what he wants is the state tittle and that will take the whole team working together

I've seen him play only a few times, the only draw backs I see is...height but hey he was only a Sophmore when I saw him, who knows how tall he is now, he maybe 7ft. JK. He has the confidence, he knows he's good, he just has to learn to get his teams attention, and as QB thats his job! besides that his skills are great, he has the intelligence for being a quarterback, he doesnt crack under pressure which is HUGE! I just can't figure out why his coaches put him on defense????? What the.....???? I mean he's Great on defense and he ain't afraid to hit, that's 4 sure, but come on? Your starting quarterback as linebacker?? CRAZY!! Check out his runningback too #21 or #22 I think.... he's not as tall as most, but this kid can run, and he's fast, by looking at him you never know it! I think his brother plays or cousin or maybe both idk.. he's small, but he can catch a ball!!! This team is the underdog team, but you never know it, they play both sides of the ball, and they come out to win! I think this team will be the team that surprises most the teams in our conference this year, b/c people under estimated them. I mean come on, they are from TROY! We did last year, but it WONT happen AGAIN!! That I can promise you!! Ain't NOTH'N Better than football....PEACE

i bet you that they are better then ur team ..ya theyre varsity team went 1-9 last year but JV went 8-2 and thats with theyre dumbass coach takin away most of theyre jv team to play them on varsity and they would be 9-1 but robby dirigo didnt get to play against mcluer because of that same reason ..so maybe if they had a halfway descent head coach they could be something next year cuz no doubt they have the skill but definitly in doubt about there coach

Their coach, coached for a college. I think he is more than capable to win games he just needed a team who WANTED to win them too! This is the 1st team in a long time from Troy that I have seen even cared if they lost a game. You can have the best coach in the World and if the team don't care if they win, Your not gonna win games, it's that simple!
The coach needs to keep this group together, I think thats where the secret lies, you don't split a team with heart and a desire and determenation to win games! because when you do 1/2 the desire, determenation, and heart goes with it.

true but when theyre jv team had the potential to go 9-1 and maybe even 10-0 the team is gonna be a little pissed off and not as eager to play for the same coach the following year.... this team has heart and thats why they were still able to go 7-3 but with a coach who had common sense and didnt move up have is sophomores to play varstity the varstiy team the following year wouldve been that much better..

on the field its you, when you get older you will realize this. the more you complain, the more you make excuses. excuses are for losers, winners always find a way! if you learn to live by this, you will be a winner no only on the field, but in life. the coach is only 10% of the team, 20% is talent, 40% is teamwork, 40% is heart and desire to win, thats right it adds up to 110% the only way you can win!

No offefense "old Player" but this blog is not for excuses why this Troy team can't win games. This JV team were talking about has WON 7 out of 10 their games,
and as far as the percentages go....
The talent of 20% is much higher!!
I've seen this team play!
and BOTTOM LINE IS.......
You can have a team with 50% talent,
50% teamwork, and 50% heart, and that coach could be ONLY 1% of that 150% team, but if he is the one who has the final say so, and not willing to play the "Best Man on the Field" b/c of Senior ranking, last names, or whom you know? or whatever his reasoning is?????
Then this coach is letting everyone of those young men down.
That JV team, now Varsity has some talent, Dirigo,Hatcher,Lindeman,Peasel ,Barnhill, and some other boys that escapes my mind right now, deserve their playing time!!! All the Time!!!Watch this team "Old Player" and you tell me who has the heart of this team???? Is it these boys who play for an empty crowd just for the glory and love of the game, or a coach who is NOT interrested in putting the best man on the field?
Football is the toughest, BEST, sport out there, and if we have try outs for Basketball,Baseball, and Wrestling, maybe we should have them for Football!!
MAYBE THATS WHY THOSE OTHER SPORTS IN TROY DO SO WELL!!!! Their playing the best of their team!
These Troy coaches need to stop worrying about hurting these "young mem's feelings", and start winning some games, and I'm sure when the Wins keep coming, the people will start coming.
From one "old player" to another "old player" I think we both know if those coaches had the same mind set, determination, and desire as their players, they go a VERY LONG WAY!!
Play the Best, and you beat the Rest!

sorry old timer 2, but i did play on a team that actually held the record for a losing streak for 3 seasons (0-27)! we had the same coach and we went 8-2 my senior year missing the playoffs by a coin flip. i know all these boys and they have talent, but talent doesnt win the games, from my own experience its heart and desire, no one can coach you to win, it all starts inside, and from first hand experience, i can honestly say winners never make excuses, and what im seeing in here is excuses for why we are losing. i dont like the coach either and believe we could do a whole lot better! but lets stop giving the boys excuses and focus on the positives, they have talent, they also have teamwork, now lets change that attitude of making excuses and start winning. now that they are juniors, we will see them florish, but if they believe that they cant win because of the coach, guess what, they wont!

I think you mis understood me and I apologize if you did. I make no excuses for these boys, why would I? They did quite well last season, 7 wins, and 3 losses is pretty good, but I think some foolish decisions by the coach could of helped these boys have even more wins under their belt. I agree that alot of football is heart & desire and that it has to come with in, but this coaach has split this team, which means splitting it's talent to move a "few of the select" up to Varsity, a team that unfortunatly only won one game all season, why risk players with the the talent and the heart & desire and move them up and take a chance of them getting hurt? Keep them all together where their talent & desire work as a "TEAM" or wait until next year when it's their turn for Varsity.
In fact, to be honest if you know the boys like you say, I think they won 1/2 the games they won because of their own desire despite their coaches.
Taking some of the talent away from a successful winning team to move them up to a team that hasn't been so successful only makes us have 2 losing teams in Troy instead of 1 winning one!
I'm all about being fair, but come on, I think we can all agree that we don't need to be fair when it comes to losing?

ok, that i agree with! i believe that some of those boys should have moved up but used sparingly to get some experience. They still should have been playing in all the jv games. this only helps in building their endurance and experience. why this wasnt done is a valid question. these boys were not mature enough to handle the varsity level yet. yes they have the talent for it now, but not the maturity and you run the risk of them questioning their ability when its lack of experience. if a young kid with lots of talent gets pummelled in the varsity level as a sophmore, then he second guesses himself and that could hurt him in the future, it may make him to want to quit. our jobs as parents is to voice our opinion to the AD, not let the kids see it. we are their role models and we must tow the line of "winners find ways to win!", and then go to the AD and question him. this i whole heartedly agree with.

I couldn't agree with you more!!
I wish these young men could gain more support of their community. I mean what young football player doesn't want his home town cheering him on?

I think this is going to be an exciting year, and Troy's BEST year in football in a long time!
If these boy's with all their talent and heart come to play, every minute of their games until the clock stops, EVERYTIME!! Were going to be watching some GREAT football Games!!!!!!!

I think this is the opportunity of a life time for the head coach of Troy football, I hope he isn't foollish and move the younger boys(JV)up, he has all the talent on the Varsity team this year, Use it up!!!!!!! If he doesn't use the talent he allready has out there, than he's just wasting the talent that Varsity team has to offer. I think this year is going to show what kind of Football Coach, Troy really has!?!?!?
I hope were not dissappointed!?!?!?
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
Just wandering?

it would be nice if they would use all the players so that the better players would not have to play both sides of the ball.

I agree jean, but if all the players aren't good enough to win games, then the coach should play who ever CAN win games, even if that means playing both sides of the ball.
I think people think this is like little league ball, and everyone has a right to play, the coach was hired to win games, and it seems at this point he will unfortunatly have to play those varsitity players both sides, but I'm guessing if you ask those boys, they won't mind a bit.

Troy's Varsitity football team has their 1st game of the season at home against Hannibal.
They have a GREAT team this year, Hatcher, Dirigo,(both of them), Peasel,Barnhill,Johnson,Kavana ugh,
Naughton,Weinman,Lindeman, and alot of boys who actually come to PLAY, I really think this is the team that is going to make a difference in Troy!
I RELLY hope their home town comes out and supports this talented team, I know I will be!
We'll all have to comment back here after their first game, and see what we all thought!
