Give it up! The system did not work. Like so many other times, just charge away and trash peoples lives and then act like you had no other choice. Having to meet the girl and the mother in a hotel, trying to contact them and finding a disconnected phone and vacant address, but still pursue the case? Sell the guys car? What the PD got $200, the DA's office got $50 and the county got $50? Are they scraping the bottom that severely now? This is disgusting.

And like always it is the public that steps up and trys to right things. These prosecutors are a real piece of work.

"By the same token, the decisions that were made were appropriate based on the information that the police had at the time and the information that we had at the time. Ultimately, the system did work."
Sorry, madam, the decisions were not appropriate and someone should be fired. A man should never be incarcerated on the basis of an unsubstantiated assertion of a serial false rape accuser.

Innocent men are routinely treated as unfortunate collateral damage in the war on sexual assaults -- where, incidentally, objectively verifiable data indicates that at least 9 percent and probably closer to half of all rape claims are false. Yet the crime of making a false rape report has become so embroiled in the radical feminist sexual assault milieu that it has been largely, and improperly, removed from the public discourse about rape. Sexual assault counselors often disingenuously refer to the fact of false rape accusations as a "myth." Denigrating the experience of the falsely accused by dismissing their victimization as a myth is not merely dishonest but morally grotesque. My Web site is devoted to such injustices. http://falserapesociety.blogspot.com/

And STILL there will be no consequences for the girl? She did it before and will do it again because it seems to be OK in the law's eyes.

Why isn't Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner in jail for car theft, her office, of which she is responsible for there actions, caused the lose of this families car. She goes on to defend this mistake with the statement "Ultimately, the system did work." Her actions and in actions are directly responsible for this family losing there car and income. In typical bureaucratic style her one and only concern seems to be CYA (cover your a..) behavior. You and I would certainly be disciplined and told to make things right, if not lose our job, if we made such a blunder at our workplace. But apparently abuse of authority is standard operating procedure. It wouldn't surprise me if instead of apologizing her office persecutes this man further in hope of hiding there blunder.

"Ultimately, the system did work."

My jaw just about hit the floor when I read that.

This guy lost his car,$7,500, and his oppourtunity to train for a new job when he did absolutely nothing wrong... but hey, "the system did work!"

Its great to hear that people are helping him out a little bit. Its proof that the strength and character and compassion of this country lies with the people, not the "system".

1. Give him back his $7,500
2. Pay up his tuition at trucking school.
3. Give him another beater car to replace the one you stole.

Then, and only then, Susan, can you start to say "ultimately the system did work". He deserves nothing less than having his life put back together to the point it was at when you, Susan, stole it.

maybe if someone pointed the finger at Susan, and she were to sit in jail, she would find out that the system did not work.

Ms Persecuting Atty, says their has been no wrong, "The Sytem Worked", and By Law, there has'nt been any "wrong".

I want a pound of flesh from all involved. I want the Law changed to allow redress, from the accuser, and from the personal wealth of the Persecutor that is responsible for this.

This is a game of Manipulation probably based as much on maintaining a customer base for the Government Employees in the Law Enforcement Industry, as much as it is the Politics of Feminism that makes all males guilty in this type of offense, unless "he can prove himself" innocent. Which if he even has a chance to do, he better have the wealth to purchase a shot at justice.

It seems to me that the same "voices" who are condemning Susan Gaertner sound an awful lot like the people who were out for vigilante-style "justice" back in April when this initially occurred. Screaming that he was probably illegal, or would skip out of the country after making bail... Had Gaertner not pursued this case citing an unreliable "victim", you all would have been screaming about how liberals were soft on crime. When will the right wing hysterics end?

Susan will be voted out of office. She will never be able to hold up her head and say I was right to take away this guy's life. Why is the $7500.00 not been returned to this man? Why has he not bee reimbursed for all that this little**** Put him through? Why hasn't the mother of this kid had to pay for what her daughter did? May the kid really be visited by what she has said others have attemped. May she know what a real victim feels like. She has sure tried to accuse others of it often enough.

Exactly! I read all the comments back in April, and everyone jumped the gun wanting him dead.Made comments about his race and all people who immigrate here and so on.That is crazy. Now I wish all those people who judged him and slandered his name would at least offer an appoligy. Also we all need to remember there are three sides to every story, his, hers and the truth.I feel bad for this cat but it has been happining to people for years, and it will not stop.
And we wonder why people don't stop and help out anymore because of stuff like this.

this is twisted...

"WHAT REALLY HAPPENED

All that seemed to vanish, along with Abdilahi's reputation. The news about his arrest played prominently in local media and reached his home country of Somalia, which he left in 1991. Even the other inmates at jail looked at him differently, he said.

"I am not a sick person to do that," he said. When he hears about other people hurting or killing children, he said, he cries. "I'm not one of those people."

What really happened, Abdilahi said, was that he saw a girl trying to flag down cars near Lower Afton Road East and Winthrop Street South.

When he stopped, she ran up and reached her fingers through his window, pleading for help. She said she had been at her boyfriend's house and he beat her up, but she didn't want her mother to know, she told Abdilahi. Though injured, she didn't want to go to a hospital, so he drove her to a bus stop and gave her $2 for bus fare, he said.

The girl, instead, fingered him to police as an attempted kidnapper.

Abdilahi said he wants to thank everyone who has reached out to help.

He held three checks in his hand Thursday, one for $100, one for $150 and one for $1,000. A man has offered him the use of his vehicle for as long as he needs it. His attorney, Edlund, said he knows of about $2,000 in donations so far.

"I am so, so happy," Abdilahi said.

He especially appreciates the sentiments expressed by people who say they are sorry for what happened. "The money is nothing. I can work for it now," he said.

Abdilahi also wants the girl and the county attorney's office to answer for their actions.

"I want at least somebody to tell me,'What you did was right, what we did was wrong,' " he said.

A SECOND LOOK

Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner — whose office continued to press charges against Abdilahi after it had extracted the false-report guilty plea from his accuser in the rape case — said Thursday that her office is sorry about what happened to Abdilahi.

"We have enormous sympathy for his situation, and it is very regrettable," she said. "By the same token, the decisions that were made were appropriate based on the information that the police had at the time and the information that we had at the time. Ultimately, the system did work."

She said she expected her office would be communicating with Abdilahi directly.

And, though her staff initially told her that charges against the girl were not pursuable, Gaertner has asked them to review that again, she said.

Mary Weiss, of Cottage Grove, said she would be sending a check.

"I guess I was outraged that somebody is trying to help someone and they end up losing their car — they end up being the victim," said Weiss, 65. "That simply isn't right."

that girl couldve been a decoy in a police sting. then again she mightve just been another coward just trying to make a few bucks. but who knows? only the D.A. will ever know. the point im trying to make is dont jump 2 conclusions, okay?

Typical! All a WHITE WOMAN has to do is holler rape! and one is guilty until proven innocent. This saga has been going on as long as history. At last we have some variety in this country now in greater numbers -- Latino, Asian, Ethiopian. Have a seat white women, you don't hold a candle.
