I often drive between Charleston, SC and Atlanta. I decided to take the back roads to enjoy the scenery and break up the trip.
I was driving West heading home to Atlanta. Upon entering Blackville I saw the 35 mph sign and slowed down. As I was leaving town, I began to speed up. I saw the cop and a 55 mph sign. I did not understand why he pulled me over. He stated I must go 35 mph until I actually reach the 55 mph sign. He wrote me a ticket. The entire set up is a scam. If Blackville is truly concerned with public safety, they would post more signs and make the speed limit more clear all the way through town. I feel it is a very sneaky way to bring in revenue for a dying town. I will never spend a dime or do any business in this town. |

Take I-20. Don't waste your time and money in Blackville.

I was also busted by this speedtrap about a year ago. Like you said, "BIG SCAM". If the people of Balckville had any pride they would find another source of revenue other than busting out of towners.

Have you guys ever drove through Norway? Should I say more?

On my way to Atlanta last week, I received a ticket in that same spot and was given the same reason. I'll never go through there again. What a load of crap! If they have signs telling you to 'reduce your speed ahead', then they should have signs telling you when you can 'increase your speed'.
BTW: Another person approached me when I pulled over about 15 minutes down the road to check my bearing and he said he saw what happened and also recieved a ticket for the same reason a few days previous. He said the officer laughed at him! I hope their budget gets cut and they lose their jobs! |

The same exact thing happened to me last Saturday morning while visiting family in S.C. It makes me truly angry, as I carefully drove 35 mph through the town. It is a real racket, but no one will do anything about it, since the town needs the revenue.
