Melissa Moon - WREG

Melissa,
I attended Liberty with you and your twin. Actually, I knew your older sister, a year before you two came to Liberty. If you remember, I visited your home and stayed in your parent's home during Spring Break 1986. In any event, my oldest daughter Thomasin, is a senior in High School and has expressed an interest in journalism.
I write because of your connection to Liberty and the fact you are an anchor at WREG.
I write about the possibility of a visit or an internship with WREG, either paid or unpaid.
Thomasin is a senior at Wilmington Christian School in Hockessin, Delaware. Her GPA is above 4.0 due to honors and AP classes and she ranks in the top ten in a class of 71. She achieved a combined 1980 on her SAT; her critical reading score was in the 98th percentile and her writing sample score in the 97th percentile.(Her math score was only in the 83rd percentile). In any event, her strengths lie in the humanities and languages. While these qualifications would likely allow her opportunity at Liberty as well as at other colleges or universities, we have decided to allow her to take a gap year and explore some careers she thinks she is interested in, as well as to have some opportunity ot travel and do some community service work. She is a very nice and very mature person.
I know this is an odd request from out of the blue, but would you/could you consider offering her an in person interview/tour of the station and advise if there are any short term internship possibilites with WREG in the 12 months that follow June 2010 ?
As a professional in the business of journalsim, is there anything you suggest she consider or do in the year that follows her graduation and before she starts college to prepare for a career in journalism?
