I spent most of my life living and working amidst the
California Chicanos. I KNOW what good, decent and poor
Mexican-style food tastes like... and Tamale King is an
obvious poor. And I emphasize the poor.
I was the only patron in the place when my food was ready. The
obviously healthy and hearty male in his 20s shouted out my
food was ready. Too lazy to walk a few steps and place the
food on the table? Apparently so.
With my bad feet and knees I worked my way to an upright
position and hobbled to retrieve the food.
Unlike other Mexican-style restaurants in the area there was
no free tortilla chips and salsa to dip them in. And the price
for my food and its skimpy portions was higher than firms
giving the freebies.
Also be aware that foam-type use-once plates are used and the
tableware is a plastic fork and knife.
Tamale King offered me the worst dining experience I have had
in several years.
I do not enjoy writing "bad" reviews but I am conveying my
opinion and I am not exaggerating in any way.
There was another annoyance; several young children running
around and yelling and screaming.
In all truthfulness I have eaten tastier Mexican-style food
bought in the frozen food section of the grocery store. And
the price was less than what I paid for sub-par food and
abominable service at Tamale King.
